I've printed about 400 colour pages and used about 10% of my ink cartridges..... Its an enormously ridiculous saving on ink costs

    Same model?

My advice is spend extra and get a laser printer. Had nothing but bother with inkjet printers over the years, eventually got a laser and never had an issue since.

Until you need to replace the drum part then its just thrown away....as the spare part costs more than buying a new printer.

Thanks I bought the 2850 3 weeks ago and had only seen the standard warranty registration.
I've registered for the 3 year extension via your link thanks.

love my ecotank printer, printed countless full colour sheets over 2 years and still haven't had to refill it - word of caution though you do need to print with it fairly regularly to stop the nozzle drying out and becoming blocked, otherwise great machines tho
    spiderman007's avatar
We've had the same problem it's a great printer but you do need to do a test page or something every few weeks to stop it getting blocked up. You can unblock it using the Epson utility software but it's a pain

That’s a really good price for a refillable printer, shame it doesn’t have a scanner though. Also heat for BLC - didn’t know about this!

I use my phone to scan documents. Just arrange for good lighting and position. It's much faster once you have a good setup.

This is a FANTASTIC printer, had mine a few years and ink lasts forever, just ensure you print a sample page say once every 3 weeks or a month to keep the heads clear, it has a self cleaning function that works as well, cheapest printer to use I have ever owned, the 3 years of ink included is no lie I’m still on the original ink 3yrs plus later for occasional printing.

When the printing paper costs more than the ink per page, you know you're winning

Good price for the printer. May be worth spending a little more and getting one with copying/scanner capabilities.

Really needed these days with camera phones and apps?

I had nightmares with add on continuous ink supply systems on various printer models many years ago. I imagine these are engineered properly to work well but I'm curious how they handle long periods of being left without printing? Do the heads clog up and can they he replaced? They are clearly intended for heavy use so not sure how they will manage.
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
As mentioned they have a self cleaning capability but I print a test page at least every couple of weeks if not printing anything else to keep them free, that includes a colour image, only needs to be small.
  11. mabz's avatar
These printers are amazing! Kids have been printing full colour sheets (100’s of sheets!) since Covid times on our printer and I still haven’t changed the colour cartridges yet!
  12. mineshpatel11's avatar
How good are these to print photos?
    greenant's avatar
This particular model, probably not great. You can get a sense for quality between the models by going on the ecotank website and looking at specs. The number of nozzles for black and colour increase up the range.
  13. mbh69's avatar
Mine lasted 13 months over 75% of the original inks left, tried using it and it was basically a brick couldn't connect to it with anything and printer was no use Epson didn't want to know even after there repair center checked it over and agreed it was faulty.
  14. MrDanielCooper's avatar
10% off with BLC too!! Brought one to use as a sublimation printer. Thanks
    GandA's avatar
I was wondering whether it could be used for that. Do you happen to have any more details about this? Thanks
  15. jarik's avatar
Are the eco tank printers good for occasionally printing?
    yerbluesjohn's avatar
Yes, I have one for that very purpose and really happy with it
  16. leybald's avatar
Hopefully Epson ecotanks don’t suffer the same problem as Canons Megatank. After 18 months my Canon started to suffer from air locks in the tubes between the tanks and the print heads. Temporary fixes such as an ink flush only gave a temporary fix. Emailed Canon about it and got well and truly fobbed off. Here’s hoping Epsons don’t have the same problems.
    rapid85's avatar
Had ours for years. No such problem. Unless it was caused by going a while without printing?
  17. Khairul's avatar
I too can vouch for Epson Ecotank. RIDICULOUSLY cheap to run, even when you use the official ink.

And if you buy third party? It's practically free. I used the original colours for four years.
  18. LEMON's avatar
    How much ink is included?
If I am printing a couple of hundred documents a week, will that be included?
    Regards
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
I’m using this as a domestic printer not commercial, hence the amount of time my ink lasts. However as the ink you buy for this is in big bottles and not cartridges you do get fantastic value for money as it’s so cheap compared to cartridges.

Do some research on prices of the ink and work out what the cost will be, I rarely print now as it seems so old fashioned so this printer does me fine.

Can we replace the printer head if it's not working?

I have the ET1810 ( scan/copy ) and not filled once yet which has included ordinary printing and lots of photocopy of forms ( for my records originals send off to various companies ) just wish I’d known wasn’t air print compatible so bear in mind this likely isn’t either if apple user .. may sell mine and get air print model in future but still iver half tank ink
  21. Meathotukdeals's avatar
Nobody mentioned the cost of ink when you actually do run out?

    not bad at all £31

Especially when you see how much ink you get and won’t need it for 3yrs plus!  I bought some as backup never used it
  22. JDUK2020's avatar
Bought an Epson L300 about 10 years ago whilst in KL. Been filling it up since and saved £hundreds. Ink tanks were common place years ago until the manufacturers decided to introduce cartridges and make printer ink into one of the 10 most expensive liquids on the planet.
If you can afford one of these its worth the investment.
  23. greenant's avatar
Keep in mind 1) no front paper tray on this model, 2) no Apple Airprint, 3) Not the easiest to service if there are issues (limited access). 4) Doesn't use Epson's PrecisionCore print head, 5) lower resolution (fewer nozzles).

I don't have Airprint in my current laser (which is playing up) so printing from a tablet can be a faff (not impossible, just extra steps). If this had AirPrint I'd probably get it. (edited)

I would stay with a print only function - less to go wrong. £33 a year is for on PC personal use but a very good option in my opinion. HOT.

good price for inktank type printer.
  26. chugerblug's avatar
Love mine. Tempted to get another at this price
  27. hcc27's avatar
Wow, £28 cheaper than the refurb version on the official Epson eBay store.

    Heated.
  28. jamieww's avatar
Ideal for those 'craft' types - use sublimation inks instead of the Epson ones & start printing mugs & t-shirt etc
  29. Hullesian's avatar
What are these like for Photo printing?
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
I did print images at the start and they were great but not top quality as it’s an inkjet, but the quality of the paper used made a huge difference. I rarely print colour now and just use it for black and white printing which in this day and age is very rare,
  30. BigDom's avatar
Posted once for a printer similar to this. Some were complaining about purchasing a reset key for the ink pad when filled.
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
Similar isn't the same, no key required.
  31. msward's avatar
Do they come with any ink in already or is it all sealed in bottles ?, I want to use one for Dye SUblimation printing and these seem a cheap option, I know you need to keep on top of the print heads but that's not an issue just did not want to find they already had in ink when it arrived that wouldhave to be flushed through to get the dye sublim ink in.
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
It’s been a long time but I’m sure I put the ink in as I can’t imagine the tank having the ink in and being thrown around in warehouses, but honestly can’t remember. (edited)

Looking for something to print 280-300gsm paper for personalised wall art A4 size for my sons little start up business. Will this suffice
    rapid85's avatar
Can't say for sure. I can tell you that the paper holder doesn't hold much. So if it does print that gsm, be prepared to fill refill it every 10 sheets or so. Also, they don't print very fast if that's a factor in printing for business use. They're designed for light use. In fact, it says something in the manual about not printing loads every day.
