Cannot comment on price, or this size, but we have the 40L version and would highly recommend it. If the size and price is right ... go for it.

These things are pretty useless without a 240v option as well......

I wouldn't say so. You can buy a mains to 12v adapter to use. Think I paid around a tenner for mine.

I have one and it’s no good for me. I bought it to keep drinks cool for when clients get in the vehicle. I can turn it on an hour before arriving and they still won’t be cool. So I’ve just bought one of these instead on Amazon which actually cools the drinks properly.

Approximately how long does it take to get from ambient to its coldest temperature when connected to 12V power supply?

Cools 18 degrees below ambient temperature, that’s poor especially if it’s 30 degrees, that means it will at best cool things to 12 degrees, your fridge at home is set to 5 degrees so anything you put in this we’ll not be cool, plus if you leave it running in your vehicle with the engine turned off it will kill your battery within a few hours due to the large amount of current draw it takes.

That’s poor if your buying it to replace a fridge , if you’re using it for days out , or weekends camping it’s a good quality product in this price range. But yes compared to my £1k Samsung American fridge freezer it’s very poor

Got the 28L on offer at Go Outdoors. Used it in the recent heat in a hot tent. Drinks/food were extremely cold. Maybe better build? But, I’d recommend their one and not this Halfords version.

I can only agree, pretty useless. I bought it last weekend heatwave on my way to seaside. After 2 hours drive drinks were barely colder that before we put them in.

If you leave this “insulated” fridge alone unplugged, it will get very hot inside. This may tell you that it’s not properly insulated.

Save your money buy something better.

We prechill ours overnight on the mains and put items from the fridge in before we leave home. Works pretty well. Obviously it's not a fridge so has limitations but if you work round those would recommend.

Only cools to ambient temperature, not very good for hot days

Bought this last week and took camping. Filled with cold drinks and food from the fridge. Had it on most the daytimes (electric car). Drinks stayed cool, not fridge cold (5c) but probably the stated 18c below the 27c it was that weekend.

You can’t win against physics. If you want cold stuff you need a compressor. For slight temperature transfer from inside to outside Halfords “fridge” will do the job bringing temperature few degrees down at max. It will be better to stick already cold items in it though. Tbh calling those kind a box a fridge is misleading in my opinion

Peltier coolers can cool below ambient while still obeying the laws of physics. (edited)
