Is this the one based on the A6?
    hd1080ts's avatar
A6 is wider than the Superb, Superb MK3 is MQB plaform with a longer wheelbase than the Passat.

I was very interested in the C5X, which I test drove last summer . Looked a couple of weeks ago and the cheapest low miles was a 22 plate 1.2 Shine with 100 miles, identical age/ miles to what I got, and priced £500 higher. The C5X is a great car but no DS9. Thing with the C5X is if I wanted 225hp I'd have to go for the phev version which adds thousands and i don't want.

I had a 24hr test drive of a DS9 about 3 wks ago, loved it. Pics and vid's don't do it justice. It's like a coupealoon, feels very plush.

I get hit on the road tax, but at the price paid I can just suck it up. Insurance rises but is reasonable.

Skimpy, can you please learn to use the reply button, so your posts follow on from one another alongside the replies from others in a single thread? Rather than several of your posts with replies beneath each, which makes it rather difficult to follow what on earth you’re on about….

Seems like a reasonable deal to me - why is this cold?

Had to laugh that when I saw this in the spec I thought it had somewhere to hold your wine glasses for a picnic

    Overhead glasses storage compartment

Because the new Superb js about to be launched & the current gen looks quite dated compared to the Octavia that came out in 2020 (look at the infotainment & compare to its rivals). For context I have a ‘21 Octavia vRS so rather like the brand!

Did they sort out the problem with these engines - I seem to remember there were a lot of complaints about this one?

I had the 1.8TSI DSG and had horrendous problems with the slipping auto 'box, coolant leaks and clunky suspension. After 7 years of NOT getting issues fixed, somebody did me a favour and wrote it off for me, this is NO A4 or Passat, far from it! Since then I've been driving a new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid which has been 100% faultless, not even a squeak for the last 3 years.

So make a new post? A corsa isnt an alternative to a Superb.

    £26k for a Skoda?

Big car that won't fit in my garage...
    GeoffAngela's avatar
I've never managed to get a car in our garage. They all seem have been designed around the dimensions of a 1977 Ford Fiesta...

    I've got a DS9 being delivered today.

    100 miles on the clock.

    Cheaper than this.
    daemon1275's avatar
Hmmm. I think you'll need all the discount you could get new, to offset the resale value later.

Big Citroen saloons have never held their value
  9. skimpy's avatar
yeah 2022, 100 miles. I don't care about the plate, its new.
    daemon1275's avatar
Thats a key point you didnt really include there isnt it? Its a year old car.

Bit unfair to be comparing the price of a year old car to a new one.

Also, Skoda know the sweet spot and most popular engine power is around the 150BHP mark for family saloons. Yes, yours is 225BHP, but thats more than the vast majority of people expect, want or need in this class.

Big Citroen saloon cars have always been unloved on the used market and it will be valued as such come trade in time.

Glad you're happy with it though, thats the main thing.

If you want vast amounts of passenger and boot space, this is an amazing car. Pity it's in Energy Blue, which really isn't a great colour.
    HMin's avatar
Everyone is having its own preferences.
energy blue especially during the night is superb looking.

It's a great car, and in today's crazy prices. It's probably great value for money.

1.5 on the big barge as superb. Don’t expect it to last 50k miles (we all know that engine don’t we) and good mpg. You’ll be better with a 2.0tdi and (not) the base energy blue paint, it’s bad. I mean BAD

It's not 2002 anymore, the little petrol engines are as powerful as a 2.0 TDI (in my case even more powerful than the 2.0 TDI in the same car). When I bought my Audi I actually only considered the 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI engines and ended up buying a 1.4 TFSI as the 2.0 TDI felt sluggish compared to the 1.4 TFSI and the 2.0 TFSI was stupidly expensive in comparison.

On top of that... I did a "little" road trip in June and July, covered 3500 miles around Europe and came back with 47mpg result. I did the same trip last year when petrol was significantly more expensive and driving a bit more eco, sticking to 120km/h / 70mph I was just under 55mpg. Diesel engines don't even have the economy advantage anymore.

This is on an A4 which is not much smaller than a Superb. I'm now on 85k miles and apart from changing the timing belt, I've not done a single thing on the engine and it's in perfect condition. They don't even suffer from the oil consumption they used to 10-15 years ago. There really is no downside. These 1.4-1.5 petrol engines are very common in fleet vehicles and can easily go up to 200k miles without any serious issues. So your "don't expect it to last 50k miles" is not even an exagerattion, it is just plain misinformation.

Not for me but a decent price relative to the second hand market.

I have vw group car and never again. Kia offers much more for lower price and better looking cars .
    SteHuz90's avatar
This isn’t a VAG Group issue, its an every other car producer issue. Kia and Hyundai have been offering a plethora of extras as standard for years. Value for money against the vast majority of other car manufacturers is staggering.

Good car and very good inside for passenger and driver .
But the front is "old man car " nothing special They change slightly look better now compare to 1st edition
I can easy put bikes in boot and one passenger still have seat in back
Bought new in 2009 1.9 TDI was very strong car done 160k miles no issues only general wear tear brakes and service .
    Bought for £15 k in 2009 Today £25k
Life is beautiful how much money government borough that inflation double in price ?

I follow cars a lot, and appreciate that mentality exists, and I'm so glad it does. It's what got me the bargain I now have.

If I looked at a comparable Superb spec to the DS9 (petrol, around 200hp with alcantara interior) it would be the 2.0 TSi sportline plus DSG which I could get for £37k+.

So what would lose more in depreciation over say 3-5 years? a £37k Superb or a DS9 which cost less than this 1.5 TSE Superb.

There is only one answer.....and it's not the Skoda.
    daemon1275's avatar
Correct me if i'm wrong here - your car is actually 2022?
  19. wackojacko99's avatar
If only they did better deals on the Karoq
  20. kris1234's avatar
vw group is miles behind with basic features. A lot of things you can order for extra price. Same thing competitors offering as standard.
