Specialized have just dropped the price of the brilliant Status 160 full suspension bike which is super capable and won MBR bike of the year and has loads of great reviews when released a couple of years ago. I have one myself and can't fault it especially for this price

Details

The Status 160 may be an all-new bike, but it’s really an all-new way of thinking about how to have the most fun possible on two wheels—even if that means they’re different sizes.

Features

  • Focused on fun and featuring our Mixed-Wheel Trail Geometry, the Status frameset is a fewer frills, all thrills FSR delivery system crafted from our hard-charging—and hard-wearing—M5 alloy and is designed not only to take a hit, but keep asking for more.
  • Fox’s FLOAT 36 Rhythm calls their venerable Grip damper into service in the name of adventurous riders everywhere, offering impressively controlled travel with plenty of trail-feel that puts confidence on speed dial. The two-position Sweep adjustment ensures the FLOAT 36 Rhythm is right at home dealing out its 160-millimeters of travel in just about any environment while 36-millimeter stanchions promise plenty of stiffness for precise handling at the limit.
  • Quality suspension unlocks some serious free speed, so to slow it all down, we tasked SRAM’s proven Code R brakes with stopping duties. Forged four-piston calipers offer serious stopping power, while 200-millimeter rotors on both ends of the bike promise plenty of fade-free bite when it matters.

Absolute blinder of a mullet bike and a bit of a unicorn when I bought mine.
It's a solid piece of kit that takes most thrown at it but had to change the rear tyre as the Butcher's were not up to it.

What actually makes this worth 2k? How much better is it than a £300 bike?

If you use it for its intended purpose this will not break the first trail you use it on. But if you're only going from A to B then a £300 bike will be equal. (edited)

Same price at most retailers currently.

Interesting 27 rear and 29 front combination. Although I've not been looking I've not seen any for sale pre built, only read about people DIYing.

Odd wheels has always been a thing . Cannondale did 24” / 26” MTB in the 90’s , Trek did the excellent 69er on the 2000’s..

I think this might be the sweet spot

Anyone have any opinions on this vs the stumpy evo? Comp alloy version has all the same components, 29er instead of a mullet.

What a great deal, if I didn’t have a Commencal Meta TR in the hands of DHL at the moment, I really would’ve considered saving some money and getting this.

Great bike see plenty of people riding these although they do say they are a little of the heavy side.
    Mullet set up aswell.
