4K gives you a crisper picture using four times more pixels than standard HD. High Dynamic Range (HDR) delivers brighter, more realistic colors and greater detail. From the hottest new movie to your favorite TV show, everything is more lifelike than ever.

News and sports. Streaming live.

Apple TV 4K offers the live content you care about most - news and sports. You’ll find your favorite sports from apps like NBA and MLB and late-breaking news from apps like Bloomberg and CNN, so it’s easier than ever to watch the live programming you love.

The Apple TV app puts everything you watch in one place.

The Apple TV app lets you browse content from over 60 video services without switching from one app to the next. You’ll find movies, shows, and handpicked recommendations. The Apple TV app is already on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV and works seamlessly across them all. So if you stop watching in one place, you can start again later on a different device.

You ask. Siri delivers.

No more typing to find exactly what you’re looking for. Just ask Siri for a movie, show, genre, actor, or song you love. Siri also shines when you’re not sure what you want. Just say something like “Show me movies in 4K,” and Siri delivers.

Your photos, videos, and music. It’s all on TV.

Enjoy photos and videos from your iCloud Photo Library or shared albums on the big screen. Connect Apple Music to your home theater. And let your friends and family share their photos and videos with AirPlay.

Share photos, presentations, websites, and more.

AirPlay is an easy way for you or your guests to wirelessly share whatever’s on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac in dramatic big-screen fashion.

Control your smart home through Apple TV.

Shut your garage door. Control your home’s heat or air conditioning. Double-check the locks. Apple TV lets you use your iOS device to control HomeKit-enabled accessories remotely with the Home app.

Having just upgraded from a 4K 1st gen to 3rd gen, this old remote is so rubbish in comparison to the new one. No dedicated on/off or back buttons, feels light & flimsy, hard to pick up off a smooth flat surface, lightning instead of USB-C, etc... It's worth spending a bit more for the 3rd gen if you can.
    TheBigLwinski's avatar
You can just buy the new remote, I bought a brand new 3rd gen remote from eBay for £25 when my 2nd gen Siri Remote died. It’s wayyy better.
  2. HertsFan23's avatar
Worth noting that FaceTime on TvOS 17 is only available on 4K 2nd Gen and above (if that is of concern to you!)

Just an update to say my Grade "C" ATV4K (cheapest one) arrived today. Honestly it was just a little smudged, not dented or scratched as far as I could tell. May you all be so lucky! I did need to pair the remote (see support.apple.com/en-…777) because that wasn't working on power-up, but smooth sailing since then. Really pleased to upgrade from the old Firestick 4K.

I got the second generation last year for £100 was grade c but arrived like new. Two year guarantee is great peace of mind. It transformed my aging OLED Tv apps being super fast and integrates great with my iPhone for mirroring photos etc on the screen which is instantaneous
    jouster's avatar
Worth meeting their 2 yr guarantee is like many. Mid they can’t repair (which is unlikely) they will replace if they have stock, and if they don’t they will grade it and you’ll get back a percentage of the price you pay.

Its not simply a case of getting the amount you paid back

Waste of money! Once you get an Android OS streaming device and some technical know-how.You can "cut the cord" if you know the saying😜
    halliwells99's avatar
Apart from probably the Nvidia shield most android  TV boxes struggle with more than 2 1080p streams. The Apple TV plays 4 streams simultaneously using quadstream without blinking (edited)

I purchased one of these a while ago now for the sole purpose of using it to connect to my smart bike trainer using apps such as Zwift and Rouvy and it has been spot on. There is a limitation of only allowing 2 additional BT devices being connected, but the smart trainer bundles all of its sensors in to one channel, which leaves one channel spare for the likes of a HR strap or similar.

A very good alternative to using a laptop or phone/tablet.

I have one of these that was passed to me. Is there any reason I should dig this out if I already have a firestick, I have Netflix and Prime but not Apple tv. I also don't own any other apple devices? Thanks in advance.
    JasSingh93's avatar
I would say it is a better and faster experience. Great UI too. The main advantage to the Firestick is the cost and convenience of potentially side loading apps.

But as a steaming box, I’d say definitely try the Apple TV
  8. adz2010's avatar
If you buy your movies on iTunes and pay monthly subscriptions for Netflix/Prime/Disney+, then this box is worth it (at this price), it's much nicer to use than a Roku or a Firestick, user interface is better, better remote (simple dedicated buttons), touch-screen like remote makes it easier to type and navigate around.

If you don't pay for any subscriptions for your media viewing needs, then an Amazon Firestick is the better choice imo
    jibbajabba3's avatar
I don't pay for any subscriptions, but the box is worth it even just for Infuse alone, which is way better than Plex and only available for tvOS/iOS/Mac.
  9. ok11's avatar
Can someone explain why would this be better (given the high price) than say a 4K Amazon Fire TV ?
I have an iPhone + Fire TV but trying to figure out if this is worth the money.
    mrbone's avatar
I have both. Apple TV is better- it is much faster and smoother. UI wise it is better and simpler. Fire Tv cant connect to public network with log in screen (tried every way).
  10. Alf.Garnett's avatar
does this do autoframe only want it for apple tv movies
    Brozart's avatar
Yes it does frame match in the settings (edited)

Any recommendations for a vpn to run on this, I have rocksolid vpn but cant see the app for this on the apple store, any other options?
    Sound.as.a.'s avatar
I’m part way through testing Surfshark. Seems ok. Did a month full price, if I’m happy at the end they have a decent price on a 2yr deal…
  12. odinsmasher28's avatar
Check if it works with tailscale for a cheap home VPN solution.
    Brozart's avatar
There is a dedicated tailscale client available for them if you install OS 17 (works with gen 1 -3)
  13. bennie1's avatar
does apple tv just stream rented and purchased content from the apple store, as well as the usual streaming sites? Am I missing anything? Seems expensive for what it is.
    TheGhost's avatar
You can watch ip tv on it too ,play games etc
  14. kencol's avatar
Is there a 'store' where you can buy movies on this? I have no apple devices, and it's a pain booting up the PC to buy movies.
    adz2010's avatar
Yes, there's the TV+ app, that'll let you buy movies/shows
  15. wollywinker's avatar
Can I ask is the 1st gen 32gb version big enough? All the 64gb are gone at that price near me. TIA 😁
    andrew.porterR88's avatar
32gb is more than enough, standard apps are small, you can’t download shows onto the device so only need the storage really for any games you would use
  16. ra11's avatar
    OoS for cheapest one... (edited)
  17. spobby's avatar
    Back in stock
  18. jouster's avatar
Still a competent device and I’ve never had an issue with the remote myself. I’ve got four of these for Plex playback and I can’t fault them. If I needed more I’d happily buy at this price

Grade C could meant a few knocks and marks but most of mine are tucked away out of site (edited)
    akhlaq768's avatar
How do you use this for Plex?
Plus why do you need 4 of them? For each tv ?
  19. TheGhost's avatar
Looking for 3rd gen but £110 is a bit dear for used considering you can buy new for 149
  20. Deal_Executive's avatar
Good price. i really don’t think the grading matters too much with this, unless the remote has been misused.
    jouster's avatar
Some people have stuff on display so like them to look presentable.

I wouldn’t wanted one all scratched and bashed up on full display

    YMMV
  21. stantier2's avatar
which model is needed to run the sky go app~?
    Limmy's avatar
As long as it has a Siri remote, you're good. Sky Go only streams in HD so you don't need a 4K Apple TV if it's just for that mainly.

But the price of those is so close to the 4K, you may as well stick with this. (edited)
  22. idoor's avatar
Apple TVs are definitely the best streaming devices. Don’t expect to be doing anything illegal on them though.
    A57ton's avatar
IPTV works fine if that’s what you are referring to?
  23. Philip_G's avatar
Cool, buying, thanks OP. Had enough of Android/Firestick attempting to play my films (usually fine until I want to rewind). Want those movie extras & screensavers. And I like the first-gen remote, just need a cover for it...
  24. Tiberiusric's avatar
Grade c at £50 this so cold!
  25. donotneed's avatar
Depends on your content but Shield Pro is still the best streamer by miles at the sub 200 price point

Tivimate Pro and Syncler blows everything else out of the water
  26. Stetec's avatar
What's the benefits of these compared to using the apps built in to your tv?
    iainl7's avatar
UI is nicer, Apple TV app supports extras, don’t have to rely on the quality of the ARC output on your TV (I have an LG C8, and can’t get Atmos over ARC, only DD+.)
  27. NicoOnasis's avatar
    Thanks
  28. Haircut_100's avatar
As a iPhone and MacBook user, are there many benefits in this over just a Roku 4K stick with AirPlay for basic streaming purposes? (edited)
    kevcrawfy's avatar
Actual benefits, probably not. But it does do the basics very well, everything is snappy and the interface is super clean. Nice moving screensavers, fitness app that displays Apple Watch metrics, easy screen mirroring from phone and Mac, photo album slideshows, voice control works really well and searches across all apps too. General eco system stuff if that’s what you’re into!
  29. Sound.as.a.'s avatar
Shame there are no 3rd Gen with Ethernet. That’s what I want/need
    ImGroot's avatar
3rd Gen 128GB version has ethernet port. Ordered one for myself.
  30. F_F22's avatar
Does anyone use 1st gen as a hub? Any issues
    Brozart's avatar
1st gen doesn’t have a built in thread router, that was from 2nd gen onwards
  31. MrsPickleJuice's avatar
    which one is £50?
    Limmy's avatar
Click the link for the deal .. that one ?
  32. J400uk's avatar
Can these be used for a home hub?
  33. 19DembaBa19's avatar
I want one to watch my movies on TV but what else can I do with these other than connect your phone
  34. jinsta's avatar
For the money its decent. Cant say use mine anymore mind, prefer the 4k Amazon cube.
    TheGhost's avatar
I bought a used 2ng gen cube from ebay few month ago..its fast only 64 quid all in including postage
  35. thebiggishman's avatar
Can skygo be used on this?
    d-wise's avatar
Yes but you need a multi screen subscription to use it.
  36. Fahim03's avatar
Can you get iptv on this
    SilverBlack's avatar
IPTVX on apple tv although i have never used it.
  37. ashman33's avatar
I have this version but hate the remote but use iPhone to control. Apple actually redesigned it for new version. it’s incredibly slick and quick the interface on these devices . (edited)
