Cellular Apple Watch

So my wife is thinking she might want an Apple watch for work as she doesn't always have her phone nearby. We don't know how they work with Cellular. Her iPhone contract is with EE, Will we need to get another data sim for the watch and roughly how much do people pay for one bearing in mind it will only be used for texts mainly?

You’ll activate a companion service for the watch which attaches the main phone number to the watch. Vodafone call their service OneNumber and it used to be £7 a month. If you search on EE’s website, you’ll find their version of it. Usage is irrelevant as it just shares your phone plan with the watch.

Thanks, I have searched it up and I think it is also £7 but I will probably give them a ring to find out exactly how much it is. Seems a bit of a cheek to charge for a service that's just using your paid phone data.

Agree it is. However, that's just how it works, whatever network you're with. If you're keeping your phone on you, then there is no need for a cellular Apple/WearOS smartwatch. Calls/texts will be passed over by Bluetooth.

Chinese 'no name' cellular smartwatches often use standard SIMs; plenty of choice on Amazon. (edited)
