Product description
The Vitus Nucleus is the mountain bike you never forget. The one that got you hooked. It’s everything a mountain bike should be - comfortable, reliable and predictable. But above all, it’s fun. The Nucleus is versatile enough to ride anywhere, but you’ll have the best time riding proper trails.

It feels just like a mountain bike should, a bike that inspires confidence when riding off-road, over rough ground and when tackling trail obstacles. This is a real mountain bike and a proven performer, but don’t just take our word for it, the Nucleus is a multi award-winner that has been voted £500 Hardtail of the Year four times in a row by MBR Magazine.

Riding your first mountain bike requires full trust in the equipment. As the trail twists and turns, rises and falls, you need to feel in complete control. The tried and tested geometry of the Nucleus has reassuring stability and agility that keeps your body relaxed and your smile wide. To match, the bike arrives equipped with high-quality, durable components.

The components include Clarks M2 hydraulic disc brakes that are responsive no matter the conditions, a terrain-smoothing SR Suntour XCR32 Boost air-sprung suspension fork and the wide-range Shimano Deore drivetrain to ensure the gear shifting is fast and light. But this bike won’t be left behind as your confidence grows. With the award-winning aluminium frame at its core, you will be able to fully customise and upgrade the setup to best suit your riding style and keep your mountain biking skills rolling forward.

Your first mountain bike should arm you with everything required to enjoy this sport. To set you on your way to unlocking the excitement of riding trails. The Nucleus is not off-the-shelf, it’s tailored specifically for the needs of a new mountain biker.

When you order a bike, one of our trained mechanics will carefully prepare and pack your bike for shipping. Upon delivery, the assembly is simple and all necessary tools and plastic pedals are conveniently included in the box.

Please Note: Due to ongoing issues in the global bike supply chain, manufacturers may substitute certain component items due to availability. In this situation, they will be replaced with the same quality or better performing parts.

Wiggle just announced huge losses. Add a likely high inventory level and expect more reductions.

Have had this bike since November of last year, same specs and all. Its been a ton of fun, forks are good enough for trails so long as you aren't doing anything too mad. Not had an issue with the drivetrain either. Super solid entry / low-mid level bike.

Same here, but the 29 version. It's won awards for best mid-range MTB iirc. I've put mine through a lot of demanding trails/general idiocy when riding and it's been fine. Only damage it's had is when I let go of it too early and it scraped against my shed

Just a shame they aren't accepting cycle scheme vouchers at the moment, must be losing sales due to that decision.

What's a 1x10 gear system like in practice? I've gone from 3x to 2x and find I miss the higher gears

Deppends what you are trying to do, have a 1x11 on mine, mrs has a tiny climbing cog for her 2x.

You mostly freewheel downhill so missing a little top end hasn’t hurt, i find on a flat the rolling resistance limits more than the gearing with mtb tires.

Some people go for a massive front cog for their 1x but feels a little like a waste to me. If you want to go fast a gravel bike is a better choice.
