For some people wondering what games can show a big improvement with an X3D CPU. Example is Fallout 4:
    52117140-jQe0D.jpg
That is from the benchmark thread on Overclockers UK forum with over 70 submissions. People who play the game will know how CPU intensive it is modded or if you build things in the game. A lot of the top Intel CPUs are running very fast RAM,but the 5800X3D doesn't need it as much. Another game is Factorio.

Can you link the thread? It would be good to know what GPU is in use.

Noob question, my PC has a Ryzen 5 3500, what's the best compatible CPU I could replace it with?
    T.Millo's avatar
Probably this, if it is for gaming. You're on the AM4 platform, so unless you want to buy more parts most people regard the 5800X3D as the apex of AM4 for gaming

As others have said, can no longer add to basket, Still showing in stock. Someone has pulled the plug there while they resolve I think. Feels like a pricing error considering the new 5700x3d is slightly more expensive. Good luck to those who managed to order! (edited)

It’s not a pricing error. I received this offer from their email.

I'm looking to complete a build by March/April time grabbing stuff bit by bit, any point grabbing this now or would further drops on this and the 5700X3D be expected by then?
    T.Millo's avatar
Hard to say, this has had a few drops but has pinged about in pricing a bit. I doubt you'll pay more than this in two months, max £10-15 more. So saving and judging based on your build then may be best

Mine arrived, regret buying it, no difference in some benchmarks I did.
    joelfl2's avatar
Which benchmarks? Are we talking synthetic ones or gaming ones?

I bought it for £237.08 and don't regret the upgrade from the 5700X. One game in particular feels so much smoother. Not the best value upgrade, but beats having to upgrade the whole platform. Though, it does run pretty toasty.

Holding for £200, we are getting so close!

    Very hot.

Decided to just stick with my 3700x with 3060ti as the frame rate is currently fine.

Tried to get Currys to pricematch (given that it's a UK supplier and the item is 'in stock', which meets their Price Promise conditions). Apparently they do not qualify as they're 'a marketplace'?! I pointed out that they were not, and the agent hung up the web chat. Quality service.
    joelfl2's avatar
Seems pretty standard for Currys. A few months ago I was advised by web chat to email Currys Business for a retail order, and they assured me it was the correct course of action when I questioned it.

Waiting on the next 7800x3d price drop to near £300 and im done hunting for CPU's, great deal for those looking for 5800x3d. Heat! (edited)

Great find! Mega-heat! Maybe others will price match? Cough Amazon. (edited)

RIP the people that bought the 5700X3D that was just posted for this price

Great price! I’d cancelled my TND order yesterday. Would get this in the future but don’t think it’ll be super beneficial over my 5700x at 1440p/4k?
    joelfl2's avatar
Possibly at 1440P. Depends on the games and settings, and the GPU you have. I'm making the jump (I have 5700X and 7800XT currently) because there is one game in particular I play often that really loves cache.

Finally, this is my time. Thank you. Purchased!

AMD have the cheek to release the 5700X3D for £240

Aye this is the best price I've seen for this CPU for a while.

Worth upgrading 5600x? Will pair with my currrent 3080, which I'll upgrade to a 5080 when it launches in a year or two. I'll also need a new PSU I'm guessing, I have a 650w now.
    joelfl2's avatar
Depends on the games, resolution and settings. If you're playing games which are on higher settings at 1440P and 4K, it's likely going to be a GPU bottleneck for now. Don't think the 5800X3D will be good paired with the RTX 5080 whenever that drops since the CPU will then be a bottleneck!
  19. sadbuttrue's avatar
very nice deal hope Amazon price match, this CPU and a new GPU are the final upgrades for my pc before building new in a couple of years (edited)
    henry.ford's avatar
Why are you so committed to giving your money to Amazon?
  20. joelfl2's avatar
Bought last night for £237.08. Have some heat. Not going to go through the hassle of refusing it and getting this potentially next week for a few quid less though.

Thanks for posting OP, I've upgraded a heck of a lot of old AM4 systems with these over the last year or so, and the demand is still there and growing. Lets hope we see a lovely deal on the 5700X3D at £199 in the near future.
    ktown's avatar
It’ll probably go low in the near future but then in years to come will hold its value like the top end Intel chips have done - 9900ks costs £350 lol
  23. damianscotland's avatar
Worth upgrading from 5600X and 3070?
    burns94's avatar
I have 3080 and going to do it just for 1% low improvements.

been so close to ordering for months now, was waiting for it to hit 250.

ive finally made the step and ordered....BUT

im not sure i like AWD. had a friend order a cpu cooler and they sent a completely different, and worse, one, charged him more than he paid for the original he actually ordered, and inserted a letter in the package , basically saying, whoops, we dont have it in stock, heres this one instead, but it costs more..... yeah. so we'll see what happens.
