Whack in a firestick and you're good to go. TV OS does suck

I have had my Ambilight 5 years. Get round the Saphi issue by using a firestick. Love my ambiant lighting and the picture and sound are perfect.

Nice to see a positive comment about Philips, have had my Philips for 22 months now and looking at all the negative comments i decided not to get another one for a bedroom lol

Had my 55" ambilight for 5 years now, I do use a Nvidia shield pro, but never had any issues with the TV and the ambilight feature is great

Looked a good deal until I read the software is Philips own Saphi rather than Android

Just plug a streaming box in to it, and you never need to use the OS

Had my ambilight for 6 years now, best purchase I've made, yeah the OS is lame but you use it for 10 seconds 🤷‍♂️

Ordered one, thank you, been looking for a new tv for ages now!

I'll never buy philips again... First 55 inch died just outside 2 year warranty and my 2nd 55inch is worse than the first...
    Tank12345's avatar
    It died twice?

For balance, I've had 2x ambilight TV's and it's been hard to fault them. Had one for 4 ish years before deciding to upgrade and had the current one almost 6 years no issues. (edited)

You guys are going to be disappointed by the slow processor. I bought this and instantly returned it. Then I got 65PUS8897 and it is so snappy I absolutely love it.

60hz… do not buy this for gaming. Everything else looks top, good deal! (edited)

60fps is not exactly a deal breaker for most gamers, unless there's any other issues it's a bit of an odd comment, even supports VRR which is a nice bonus.

I tried to get richer sounds to price match last time, did not work out!

I did buy it, no issues with it. Use it with a firestick though. Agree the ambilight is pretty bright.

    Voted hot. Shame is Saphi.

I have a 70 inch android version of these. OS is very laggy. Decent enough picture and sound but not happy with the quality and durability. Mine has already had a new screen put in and I think the 2nd screen might be on its way out too as it starts to flicker randomly from time to time. Glad I got it with a 5 year warranty from Richer Sounds. (edited)

I believe I have the same model, mine flickers in the sense that the image goes slightly less contrasty and a bit greyed and then back to normal..
Mines from richer sound too, it's so big, dreading sending it back...

Bought an ambilight in Feb last year was in for repair twice for a total of 6 weeks... panel went twice .... the ambilight is great, but the software is pretty laggy and it's quite an old skool design, I got the dirty screen effect with my 70" ambilight too and blacks flickered between two types in dark scenes, it drove me Insane!

Got a refund in the end and bought a cheaper Samsung TV which is brilliant, the software is great with loads of great apps and you can play xbox games without an xbox with works brilliant.

You can hook up philips hue lights for the official ambilight functionality with a Samsung also but costs nearly as much as the Samsung g TV in lights and the software

I just bought a cheap £10 LED light strip for now until there is a hack for the overpriced official app (edited)

I have 2 Philips tvs. 65-75 inch. Ambient light is amazing. Like everyone else just put a firestick in and you’re good to go. The system isn’t that bad. Had my tv over 3 years now and still going strong.

I love ambilight but I will never buy a philips tv again after my experience with the last two.

The first one had the screen fail a few days outside the warranty. Then the second one had an LED failure after only a year. Someone came to the house to replace them, admitting that the entire stock of that model had faulty LEDs. Then two years later that TV failed again. In contrast, I have 2 LG TVs that are running fine after 10 years. And I have a SHARP Aquos that I bought in 2008 that is still going strong.

It is a shame because Philips support is excellent. You get through to an English person on a London landline straight away.

I've had this tv since Tuesday. Picture quality good, ambilight is a nice perk that's adjustable to suit you. But the TV is very slow, software is crap, doesn't have most of the apps you'd might want. Kept the box just in case I want to return the TV.

Bought the 4k max firestick from Argos for £44.99 and now I have all the apps I want and can use the tv without lag, however still disappointed with how slow this is compared to my old Samsung TV which I bought in 2017.

I'd want a long warranty with these panels. Really poor
