Some bonus pictures of the Auriol 12x32 Binoculars from their Fort William store earlier today!4294520_1.jpg4294520_1.jpgFound a review on ebay, but it's not very detailed.4294520_1.jpgThere was also a Bresser Wildlife Camera (5MP) in the Fort William store today, for £39.99, though I can't see it on the Middle Of Lidl webpages. It may be an older release or regional.

The "Bresser Wildkamera 5MP" is £89.99 from the official website bresseruk.com/By-…tml

Would these be any good for looking at the moon?
    JonF992's avatar
Be OK. 12x magnification will give you enough detail to make out the lunar features. 32mm light gathering isn't great (would for most purposes mean daytime use only) but the moon is actually very bright. I don't know what the actual optical quality will be like. Cheaper bins often suffer from something called chromatic aberration, where you get a purple fringe around the edge of an object in view. Cheap ones also are often inconsistent between samples. The only way to tell for sure is give them a go.

That's all I came up with52165022-7qohZ.jpgbut a different magnification is on BirdForum (not those sort of birds), so not sure if that would be any use: LIDL Auriol 10x50 Binoculars | BirdForum
    - that, and the post is over a decade old and the 10x50 binos are Bak4 glass. (edited)

How does it compare to x2 toilet rolls next to each other?

    The difference...

Meant to run this through Google Images to try and find a match..forgot! Very unlike me to not do detective work...!

Stitched the images together for comparison: Auriol on the left, Bresser on the right:52168004-P02If.jpgThey are slightly different if you look at the grooves around the middle of each tube (don't know bino terminology) and the grooves near the top at the outer lens end. Even the way the hinge in the middle is shaped. The Auriol's oval eye cup markings are slightly more spaced out and a little longer than the Bresser's.

The Auriol looks darker and maybe less matte than the Bresser? It's harder to pinpoint differences with stock photos.52168004-fYfOl.jpgThe Auriol doesn't seem to include the Bresser's canvas pouch, so that must be for cost-cutting reasons. Though, Lidl do say the Auriol has a 'belt pouch' but don't picture it in their images... If they are indeed made by Bresser? I'm unsure, tbh.

Bresser 12x32 reviews are here, obviously you can Translate To English.

(edit: Actually, the Auriol 12x32 binos do come with a pouch, confirmed by lucas below - thanks). (edited)

I did find a more in-depth review of the Auriol 12x32 Binos, but unfortunately it's in Spanish with no English captions offered! PRISMÁTICOS del LIDL por 9.99€ | Auriol 12x32 | ¿Los prismáticos BARATOS del Lidl SON BUENOS? (October 2020):

Bought two pairs for my grandsons, I am surprised how good they are. Often cheap optics are a waste of money but these are amazing at this price point, don’t expect the performance of top brands but you get more thanyour £10's worth here I can recommend them (edited)

Amazing I’ve been on the lookout for a pair and read that Lidl usually sell bresser, probably same company and well worth a punt at £9.99

Anyone seen the hiking poles in stock in their local? Went to 2 stores today and they said they weren't stocking it.
    robmiller667's avatar
Product not available in all stores. Not that helpful if there is no indication which stores will be stocking it

It seems the optic lens at 30mm Dia is a bit small for 12x mag may struggle in low light conditions but cant knock price and return if unhappy.

My partner used to take a monocular to the races for looking at the bookies' odds, think he's broken them, it was years ago! Hope they are lucky for you!

Kinda wish I'd bought a pair now....I was pondering the wildlife camera yesterday, instead, as there's some wonderful sights out here in the Highlands.

I've got a smaller set of binos at home too, Steiner Safari - will bring them up next time I hit Glasgow (soon).
