Cheaper at Argos with the £5 of £40 marketing email and adding a £1 sim card.

Makes the max £45.99 and the 4K £35.99.

Or get 2 lites for £49.98/£24.99 each!

what Argos marketing email? Is it a standard code? Anyone not using theirs, could I have please.

why do these always grind to a halt over time? even factory resets dont prevent performance issues over time?

Have to agree. They appear to have a built in obsolescence. On my third one which is now randomly restarting. I have the previous gen 4k and it's just too underpowered.

Smart tv are slow....they got to load operating system and all the apps slows everything down....stick to external device.

Is this better than the Black Friday deals?
    Justintime12's avatar
    No.

No idea why this deal is so hot really

Paid £22.93 for my 4k stick in 2021 and the 2nd gen isn't that much faster

Paid £17.99 for the lite version (gen 3) last year

The 20% lasts as long as
I returned my old firestick around 2 or 3 months ago and claimed my 20% back this time round on sales

What’s the deal with trading in your old one? It says 20% off but then says after it’s sent to them and checked over, £3 will be deducted from the total at checkout. Does that mean my old one is worth £1.50 ? (edited)
    hotukbeard's avatar
Looks like you get a small amount (£1 - £3) in Amazon vouchers, but also 20% off the next order of a new stick.

Problem is, how long will this deal last. By the time you've sent it and it's been checked, will it have gone up to the old price?

My experience of fire sticks is that they are advert ridden, slow, and get slower over time. I had one break. Others I have are starting to fail at the micro usb connector. That said They are cheap though and have all the streaming apps. The problem you get with other android boxes is they are faster and more reliable but can lack bbc iplayer, channel 4, itv apps or lack say Dolby vision.

Best user device is Apple TV 4K but you can’t do the things like side loading apps. One of my Android boxes Nokia 8000 you can load CoreELEC on usb and I have Linux docker going running programs. Note It will not play video in CoreELEC due to boot loader issue . I use it as a server for Apple tv4k.

Nvidia shield pro cost is what £190 which is multiples of a firestick price. I may pickup one second hand I guess but can get mini pc for that new price  (edited)

I've got the 4k version from 2019 I believe, would a notice a massive difference if I got the 4k max?
  22. Balb0wa's avatar
My max has just come, just the item box with the shipping label on it, it should have come in a bigger box,or packaging protecting it.

Rang up and complained, they wanted me to send it back, and they would send a new one, i said no, she came back and offered me 20% off it :-)
    uzzyfudge10's avatar

I got given the option to use that packaging or hide what was inside

Just upgrading my tanix tx6 after 3 years, I would go with ATV. Don't like ad ridden stuff like Amazon or Google.
    Adam_Pat4Wj's avatar
    What's atv?

I don't have a 4K TV and have no intention of getting one either, so should I get the Fire stick Lite?
    Justintime12's avatar
Yes, if you dont mind not having volume controls on the remote (surprisingly annoying having to reach for another remote just to change the volume)
  25. Rachel_Lewis's avatar
Does anyone know if they are going to reduce these again? I’ve just got 20% off when I traded in my first gen one. And sadly missed this
    Newbold's avatar
They will, but only the Amazon algorithm knows when.
