Make the most of driving while you can. The working class are slowly being forced onto mass public transportation via green policies or the drive to cram as many people into cities as possible.

The future of car manufacturing is low volume, highly priced vehicles you could own if wealthy enough or hire as pay as you drive.

The introduction of the ban on new non EV has been pushed back and we are told not to worry and that we will be driving petrol and diesel vehicles for years to come. Yes but at a cost. Green taxes will be added to to fuel until it drives their use down and mass car use away for ever.

I’m no conspiracy theorist by a long way but the signs are clear.

    "I'm not a conspiracy theorist..."

Having just posted a conspiracy theory.

We seem to hear that a lot over the last few years.

Waiting for comments about in 2007 this was £6.7k and how we're being ripped off
    dealcatcherer's avatar
Well if you follow inflation, there is no justification for the price more than doubling within that time frame... Car makers have truly gone cartel and decided to just hike the prices.

    How much is 1.2 auto

Would you like me to click on the deal link and spend a few minutes finding that out for you? Let me know if you can’t do it yourself and I’ll happily assist.

Loved my i10 that I got new for 8k in 2009 and got scrappage scheme money off aswell , my boy has had it for 5 years now and still runs very well after 14 1/2 years
    Bendown's avatar
I purchased an i10 during this time and it never let me down, although I do no longer own it, during my 9 years of use it never let me down, still going strong now. Working at a garage we seldom get any Kia's or Hyundai's come in for repairs, where as other makes are regulars for one thing or another.

It's really slow, also don't recommend it for space in drivers seat. My eye level was too high to drive it. I was looking at the bit of the roof where the windscreen starts. (edited)
    DopeyDunker's avatar
You must be really tall as I'm 6'4 and I got one of these (1.2 version) as I found it to be the most comfortable small car I tried. No problem with space or visibility for me. (edited)
  7. galareho's avatar
We bought our i10 1.2 in 2009 for £5k on the scrappage scheme. We still have the car, it’s done 80,000 miles.
Our daughter drives it mostly now, she passed her test 4 months ago. It’s not got all the fancy electrics and gadgets but it’s never let us down and we wouldn’t let our daughter drive it if it wasn’t safe.
It’s a great little car and has been cheap motoring all these years.
  8. Navcity's avatar
very good cars.more spacious than they look and very nippy. 2012 models still on 20£ a year tax!
  9. myhye's avatar
I had this as a hire car, super nippy decent car would recommend it. At this price bargain
    greglowe1's avatar
Oh come on, it’s not a bad city car but it ain’t nippy.
  10. toddy100's avatar
Got ours on the scrappage scheme and it's still going strong
I use it for work and deffo got my moneys worth out of it
  11. DJ8's avatar
0 to 62 mph (secs): 14.6 - Lost count at the amount of times people driving these kind of cars pulling out in front of me at a snails pace causing me to hit the brakes.
    brett1985's avatar
Yes but they are ideal size to park on pavement outside pizza restaurant.
  12. Rup's avatar
Nice to have a small, cheap car, rather than huge, expensive EV's being forced on us.
    anttony's avatar
I’m pretty sure no one is forcing you buddy!
  13. fergie1010's avatar
I bought the Kia picanto version of this in 2005 via the scrappage scheme for 5K.
    greglowe1's avatar
I wonder what else we could buy for cheaper in 2005.
  14. Okay.'s avatar
Go for the 1.2, makes a massive difference

  15. wølverinê's avatar
This is costs £7000 back in India. Sad to see all cars so expensive here.
    SirSpanky's avatar
Yeah and the average salary is 3-5x less so actually this is a better deal relative to purchasing power parity (edited)
  16. PC59's avatar
Why would anyone buy this over a used properly maintained golf that costs less than half with better performance and probably even optionals
    d3fy's avatar
Because they want a small car? Because they have to use road parking and spaces are small and this can fit, because they are not very confident and like the feel of a small car, because they park in an underground multi story. Because they are single and no one else will be in the car and don't need the space. Just a few 💭 (edited)
  17. londonstinks's avatar
I just buy 1K sheds every few years. Bought a 900 quid 2010 i20 3 years ago, still going. Only had to change a starter motor myself, been solid otherwise.
    not_buying_it's avatar
Financially, it would make much more sense to buy a 20 year old Nissan micra and accept that you may have to pay a couple of hundred to the local garage each year to get it through its mot.
  18. itsnotmeitsyou's avatar
The picture shown isn't right - the driving lights on the new model are different.

This price is for Mangrove Green only.
  19. cheapasch1ps's avatar
How these compare to a Clio, Sandero, Picanto, Fabia or 208?
  20. Burgmeister's avatar
That's pretty decent if you just need a town runabout and don't go on roads with speed limits of greater than 40. Don't need anything more powerful for that.

Obviously, if those aren't the types of roads you drive on and you like to drive fast then this probably isn't the deal for you (edited)
    mattd555's avatar
i dont know what "fast" means but this car can do 70 which currently is the fastest legal speed in the UK...
  21. olilovespies's avatar
2014 i10 owner here. Bought new for £8.2k and has now done 145000 miles.. battered little car now, but still can't fault it.
    MDL199's avatar
That was a cracking price. The price rises on both new and 2nd hand cars is crazy.
  22. lfc72's avatar
Lots of people on this app haven't looked at new car prices lately
    MDL199's avatar
Or secondhand prices either judging by comments.
  23. AamirQuazi's avatar
Decent town runabout…. But is it really only 67hp? My lawnmower probably has more power!!
    speedfire66's avatar
If you have a 70bhp lawn mower then ride that to work.
  24. HUKDTony's avatar
Would rather a cheap lease for 5 years until I can save up for a proper car.
    MattMac's avatar
Why exactly do you not think this is a "proper car"?
  25. ottermanuk's avatar
This or a Sandero? I'd probably take the Sandero. I'd rather have neither can get a lot more secondhand for £14k even in the current market! I understand if you don't want to buy used though.
    MDL199's avatar
The Sandero is actually a cracking car
  26. pablo_el_diablo's avatar
Surely there are better cars for 14k, Like citroen c3 on autotrader from £12400 brand new
  27. HottestDeal's avatar
Much better ways to spend 14k

It's a good car, 5 years warranty with it too.

However, be aware this will be the outgoing model 24, the new MY25 model has been announced but not been released. Any factory orders will be for the new MY25 order from now. The difference £500 increase, sat nav and EURO 6e engine.

Oh and new colour is going to be available

You will notice if you go the Hyundai website the brochure is not available because of the changes. (edited)

I bought an i20 Bayon on the 29th of December 2023, it broke down after 250 miles on the 4th of January 2024 after 250 miles! I've been completely abandoned by Hyundai... full story can be read here: forums.moneysavingexpert.com/dis…/p1

I am so invested in your issue. Sat there and read the whole thread. Any update? I feel like you need to threaten legal action, or even just get a solicitors letter so they know you mean business
  37. cheapasch1ps's avatar
Anyone know of the best deals for a 1.2+ auto small car? Is it carwow or buy 2nd from auto trader? The 2nd hand cars seems not so different in price than a discounted new one
    d3fy's avatar
I would really recommend a Yaris. My wife has one and even I like it for nipping around in and parking in the city. I used drivethedeal. (edited)

    Worth 7k next year lmao
    lfc72's avatar
    🤦‍♂️
  39. Celeste_Canyon's avatar
14 grand for a micro mini car? Ok for singles and couples I guess. These are "from a to b" cars so why not get a nearly new small car still under warranty for a few grand less? There is the 5 year warranty I suppose🤷🏻‍♂️

My 2008 1.2 i10 was brilliant, barely spent anything on it, great first car
