We just need the price of salmon to come down to like 10 percent of the current price to make it affordable. Didn't they say post Brexit that we would have really cheap and healthy fish. An island surrounded by so much sea and fish is just a luxury item hmmmm.

So true. The lies are insane these days

anyhows keep checking Morrisons in store (if you have one near you)

they often have £5.99 a kilo for the whole fish and even when you taken the head off and tail off, its still obserdly cheap, being half the price, of the best priced pack you’ll find

and hey, you get to practice your fish filleting !

for example. I brought one for 14 quid & ended up with 14 fillets
each bigger than you get in one of those £4 2 pack from supermarkets

For £1 a fillet. And as I say they were GENEROUS fillets

    hope that helped

None of the food we eat is perfect. Whilst knowing little about the fish farms, I’ve been around Scotland’s coasts and seen a fair few. All the ones I saw were in huge open waters and beautiful scenery. I’d choose Salmon over loads of other stuff if it was a bit cheaper.
If you find it reduced or on offer, then it’s a great low calorie choice.
I’ve seen too many scare stories to take notice of now. I’ve got people in my office who won’t drink tap water as they are frightened by crazy reports on the net. You have to keep a balanced view.
Anyway, I have loads of recipe books that I never look at so I probably won’t bother with this one but am grateful to the poster for taking the time to do so.

Sadly, a balanced view now is that it's virtually impossible to buy produce which hasn't been made worse by commercialisation, unintended contamination or cost cutting. Is there a link between this and the dramatic rise in health issues from allergies through to cancers?

Fresh Salmon should be frozen first,  then defrosted.  This is supposed  to kill all the parasites in them.
Due to the fish  meal they are fed,  they also contain PCBs  and  due to polutents often  traces of Mercury and Arsenic are found.
All Salmon are farmed nowadays as line catching is illegal.
In the old days Fish (cod)  and chips were  a cheap meal.  But then German spy Edward Heath decided to take the UK into the EEC resulting in over fishing.  (edited)

Saw a thing today about shell fish, very interesting. On average an oyster will contain 8 pieces of plastic.

Tell you what, once you find out the truth about farmed salmon you'll never want to eat that again

This reminds me of Billy Connolly's leftover venison sketch (google it and you'll see what I mean)

Is this what the bourgeois eat with their chips? While watching small tv's?

    Thanks for posting…
Very long winded way of adding any kindle book via iPhone and safari because you can’t through Amazon app. Got there in the end!
