Do they mean a AAA BATTERY? rather than AAAA.

No, probably means an AAAA battery which is smaller & lighter than AAA, and often used in things like a stylus / laser pointer.

But the p11 gen 2 goes for £155-179 fitted 6GB/128gb with the 45% quicker G99, charger in box and an extra 1/2 inch screen with 10% bigger battery

No charger included, pathetic for something that is £199.99 rrp. Lenovo say it's EU regulations but they and other manufacturers also sell tablets that come with chargers. (edited)

However it *is* EU Regulations. The "Radio Equipment Directive 2021/0291" requires manufacturers to ensure that a selection of portable electronic devices are USB-C enabled and made available for purchase *without* a bundled charger. If they want to include a charger they can but they *must* also sell a version without one. More and more manufacturers will start selling without a charger rather than having to supply two different boxed versions of the same portable equipment.

The Directive states that manufacturers have to comply in full by 28th December 2024 but it was suggested to businesses that it was voluntarily phased in rather than hitting hard at Christmas time. From 28th April 2026 it will also be compulsory for laptops too.

The pen experience is actually pretty good. Tab Pen does it's job well in OneNote. It's nice to see some good pen-supported options at this price bracket. The G88 is plenty, and i haven't encountered any issues with performance, unless i'm multitasking a fair bit, which is to be expected from a device with 4GB ram. Screen gets nice and dim in pitch dark environments as well.

This or honor pad x9 for watching films etc?
    crixus's avatar
Honor X9 is great, just got one myself. Seems to alternate on Amazon between 159 and 169. 120hz screen, 22w charging and slightly bigger screen is what swung it for me vests Lenovo. I was worried that I'm used to Samsung everything but you can easily adjust things to be more samsung like and they even have a few tweaks on standard Android that with better than samsung like multi windows.

I bought one recently for the mrs. She 'needed' this specific one for the stylus, but i think really is just for reading pdfs.

Ended up sending it back because the pen/screen seemed defective. Cursor would fly across the screen at certain positions of the screen,  about a third of the screen width from all 4 corners.

Would occasionally act like the pen wasn't in contact with the screen too making taking notes impossible.

I've actually got a replacement coming so we'll see how it goes with this one.

Other than that it did seem pretty good value. And it's a recent release so you'll get 4 years of updates and that (edited)

Strangely, the Gen2 has less updates than the standard one. Very peculiarl.

if you wanted to use this Tab and the Pen as a digital writing pad, whats the best app to use on it?

I'm thinking of returning the Lenovo Tab 9 I recently bought to get this, this one having a bigger battery, larger screen and pen/stylus to go with it.
It seems that the processors are virtually the same, same 4GB RAM but 64GB more on-board storage with the M11. This model also ships with one more recent version of Android.
I'm envisioning the pen/stylus functionality and screen/battery/internal memory increases will be worth the £50 extra outlay.
