Useless..I used it last year to seal MDF shelves I put in garden shed. Within 3 months they were all covered in mould

MDF + proximity to dampness or water, may as well build you shelves out of sponge. Stick to exterior shuttering ply.

A cheaper, though perhaps somewhat less effective, method is to use a diluted mix of PVA Glue to roller on. A couple of coats onto MDF shelving should suffice (top, bottom, and edges).

This is decent, just used this to seal my stair case in my house (stair treads) and dries fast with no smell.

Paid more than this though at the time so seems a decent deal.

I've used a few tins of this in the past, it's good stuff, goes on really quickly and easily.

Delivery showing as April though, so don't buy if you're in a hurry! (edited)

Used proper paint like this, but found using 2 coats of matt emulsion just as good with light sand between coats.

Forgive my ignorance but why does mdf need sealer?

MDF is very porous, so it will soak up any moisture and become mouldy. It's usually what's given in shelving units for garages.
