I'm not a fan of railcards with a catch

I often stay at Premier Inn hotels and thought I would do a test to see how the rates compare .. booking directly with PI and through this company.

For two sets of dates .. while the PI site has availability, this site says .. No availability.

Maybe .. they only 'find' expensive hotels .. seems strange my two dates were not available .. why ???

Sorry, not a good deal for me although I do need a new railcard .. my senior card expires next month. I'm happy to pay another £30 with Trainline but if a better deal comes along .. that would be great too.

    This deal .. NO !

I booked a hotel in India for £2 last night, clearly didn't travel, so my total was £7.99 for the Railcard.

Thanks for posting OP, my F&F railcard due to expire so just booked Vietnam £3 for tonight so £8.99 in total. It does say you must complete the check in/check out process but I'm hoping provided they charge you for a no show this does the same thing

Also, do you have to buy a train ticket before or after purchase of the railcard, for the railcard to work?

According to the rules in the original post
When purchasing a Railcard through this promotion, you must book a UK train ticket before the Railcard is issued

For the discounted Railcard price of £5.99 you must book a UK or European hotel stay.

Does this mean they will keep on taking payments? And what for?

I'm pretty sure this means that you agree to pay the £20 after the initial £5.99 should you not do the hotel task within a month.

After getting notification my stay was complete and I’d satisfied the requirements. Several weeks later I got an email reminder saying I’m yet to complete my hotel stay !?!?!?

Did you get charged the difference for the railcard?

Looks like it's ended, I don't see an option to buy a railcard with a hotel task

i bought the railcard and booked a hotel in Cambodia.

i will report back once i have " stayed " there.

would be interested to know how to change start date on railcard though.
didn't see it anywhere in view

    11/03
my trip to Cambodia went well. I can thoroughly recommend the hotel for the princely sum of £1.75.
my railcard now needs activating with a train ticket.
so tomorrow I am not going to Stockport to travel by train to Manchester for £1.04 (edited)

would still be interested to know how to set the " start date " on the railcard though

When buying any of their railcards, do you have to upload photo ID, e.g. passport, driving licence etc?

Annoyingly Trip refuse to issue a Railcard Download Code to add to another app so you’re stuck with using Trip.
