Anyone got one of these? How are they? I've got an old-ish macalister corded lawnmower that came with the house I bought and want to 'upgrade'... This seems to fit the bill. But are they any good? (edited)

I've got an 18V Ozitel (rebadged Eindhell from when Bunnings owned Homebase for a bit).
It's been pretty good. I can normally manage out 3 small lawns on our hillside terraced garden on one battery. Check what size battery you get. I find 3Ah is about as small as I'd like. You might like to get a couple of batteries. That way you're not waiting on a charge if you've left it too late to mow and you're harvesting hay rather than cutting the grass.

For those that may end up with this, it's not completely clear from Aldi where to buy spare blades but I was referred by Aldi to these guys who have an ebay store - ebay.co.uk/str…hop. I've now bought 2 blades from them for my cordless Ferrex mower over the last few years and always delivered quickly and the price always seems ok at around £15-£17 (or so) delivered.

As for batteries, buy 2 when you get them. Mine are still going strong, but they definitely don't last as long as they did when I got it in 2021. However, having 2 means that I know I always have enough charge across both of them to get front and back gardens done every time.

Oh, and my cordless mower is happily still going well at nearly 3 years old. So much easier than my old petrol mower with its constant need for servicing and vastly more expensive replacement blades etc.

New blades? Not sure what you're cutting with your mower but I've never bought a new blade for a mower, I just resharpen the original. I used to do it on a grinding wheel but now I just use one of these amazon.co.uk/gp/…O6W (edited)

Picked one of these up on Saturday and used it for the first time today. I'm coming from a cordless Einhell 18/30 and the Ferrex is miles better in every way. Even with a smaller 2.5ah battery in the Ferrex vs 3ah in the Einhell, it lasts longer and doesn't struggle with longer grass.

I'm chuffed with it, thanks OP! (edited)

Bought this last year, great purchase, easily does our garden (48m2) with enough juice left for the ferrex strimmer using the bigger battery. As another commenter said, first cut of the year best to do in two cuts as long grass can bog it down. Overall very happy with it.

Heat added, cheap for a cordless mower, not sure how good this one is l but I heard battery mowers can be good.
The problem with mains electric mowers is the cord so if it suits your needs a battery one makes life easier.
Not sure about the ferex batteries though, Aldi has had serious supply issues for months and I still haven't seen them stocked instore recently.

Went in at 8:00am today to store. Two blokes fighting for the batteries (they took 6x packs each) and I just politely asked: "Could you please leave one for me?".

Two lawn mower units sold before I got mine.

Problem is: How do I buy the charger for the batteries? From Aldi's website it says "Product no longer available". Pay double at ebay?

Ask staff as they sometimes hold them back to stop the bulk buyers

I also have the ozito (einhell rebranded) cordless mower. Only used it with the double battery setup. It works well but does bog down in thicker grass so I tend to do a higher cut first then a shorter cut.

Using 2 x 4ah batteries. I easily get 4 full cuts out it

Once you go cordless, you'll never want to go back. The freedom is unreal

Couldn't agree more. Best decision for a long while

bought this about 2 or 3 years ago for £99 and still using
easily halves times spent cutting lawn
the lever to raise or lower is useful too
i have had to buy a new battery as use them for multiple tools and old batt would not finish the job / struggle with longer grass
have had to sharpen blade a few times and could do with replacing the blade

Hopefully they'll have batteries in stock at the same time this lawnmower is on sale, else as much use as chocolate teapot for those of us with no battery

Also, would you need to get a charger as well? (edited)

I’ve got one of these, had it for a few years. Still going strong and does well cutting a small lawn

Anyone know if I can use my Einhell battery with this and save a few bob?

Im wondering the same. there's a converter on ebay but they're more than the battery. Interestingly I've just found a face book group called Aldi Tool Fans. I've searched it but nothings coming up. There's a few comments on people 3d printing converts .....cheap alternative if you have access to 3d print

Ask staff for batteries & chargers as a lot of stores hold them outback to stop the bulk buyers

There was around 3-4 lawnmowers and loads of batteries in stock in New Southgate Aldi (north london) around 8pm (edited)

Looks uncannily like the makita one I splurged £280 quid on (edited)

A friend bought some power tools off AliExpress, they are Makita and Milwaukee clones. The shape, the colours all match the originals. Even the batteries are swappable between the originals and the clones. They are brushless tools and I was surprised how good they were. Can't remember what he paid but is was cheap. I think someone on YouTube was testing some that's why he bought them.

Narrow cut and no stripes but if that suits your needs it's a great price. Make sure you can get a battery or two though (and charger)!

Under £100 with battery and 3 years warranty..... don't own this myself but l do have cordless and love it.....I have made a claim on aldi warranty a few years back for a petrol lawn mower and it was straightforward to do and they sent a replacement

Considering a lawn mower "upgrade" I'm using one of the cheap and cheerful homemade jobbies, and the wheel height locks are just terrible.

    How is this please? (edited)

Is it possible to mulch with this? Instead of collecting grass
    Slimlinex's avatar
Yep, I find it doesn’t pick up that well so switched to mulching.

Had this mower for over 2 years , brilliant.
only problem was first battery died at 14 months so out of warranty.

Can alone recommend a cordless mower that does stripes?

Looking to replace my petrol one

I have a Spear and Jackson one from Argos. Just check your battery is okay as some are known to be faulty even when you purchase from new.

    Batteries still not available,
    Visited 2 aldis today,
They are still selling cordless tools but no batteries.
They are selling chargers for £15 (normally £17)
    Roygroyg's avatar
Batteries were restocked today as per leaflet. My store put out last night apparently but were supposed to wait. I managed to get one of each size and had good stock but selling fast. (edited)

In Letchworth I asked staff and they'd only had 1 lawnmower which had been sold, and they didn't know if they'd get any more. Not much of a deal if they can't stock it
  25. ifitsfreeitsmine's avatar
Lidl are stocking their cordless lawnmower from 4 April, same price £70, bare unit so battery and charger sold separately.
    Austinhead's avatar
Any idea if the batteries are the same? Lawnmowers sold out near me but I already have the batteries.

Lawnmower and charger in stock, no batteries?! Crap.

so after battery and charger ios comes to what £110 -£120, theres a offer above this for the eindhell with batteries and charger, which is the better option?

Yes the enihells a good buy if you need the full kit and want it delivered. However, as said below by a poster thats owned both the aldi is better than the enihell.. I've got the enihell had it 3yrs and find it's great, does me for my lawn
