I prefer the ones with a piezo-electric bell push, so it can be sealed for life - so won't be a refuge for small creepy=crawlies or half a gallon of rainwater (it rains a lot, hereabouts). I'd also prefer one that announces, "I'm 93 years old with a dodgy ticker and 1300 feet away - so please give me a few nanoseconds to get to the door". Or one that locks the yard gate - so they can't escape before I have had time to get there..

A bit more information as to why it won't interfere with a neighbour's, if they buy the same make and model, would be good. A 1300 ft radius in the UK could include dozens of doorbells. My parent's had one with a little set of slide switches inside - and chose the same pattern as someone down the road. The kids in the street took the blame - accused of pressing the doorbell for fun...

What with all the phones/tablets/ "Hey Googles", Alexas, microwaves, cookers and even the washing machine giving off melodies these days - maybe it's time that a doorbell actually announces that there is someone at the door...
