So then you have 3 different descriptions of why there is an Obesity epidemic. There isn't a one size fits all solution but it appears to be the mass adoption of corporate based food entities and radically changing lifestyle that contribute to the Obesity Epidemic. The obvious superficial advice > "Duh just eat less and exercise more" does not work and has a high rate of failure. Obesity is more complex than this even though in simple terms it has a strong element of truth, but it's the wrong way to consider as the main contributing factor to Obesity.
Another way to describe the problem is "A Calorie isn't a Calorie" meaning that Calories affect metabolism differently based on which macronutrient bias they come from. Carbohydrate, Fat and Protein provide calories but a calorie from each of these groups is only the same in terms of energy but not in terms of how the body utilises the calories.

It's worth noting that low carb diets and any form of fasting are NOT recommended purely as weight loss fads. They are lifestyle overhauls to improve all-round health so you continue to eat that way even after losing weight.
I use keto to control my lupus but an added bonus is that I also lost 10 stone along the way (20 years of steroid medication plus a sugar addiction equals a whole load of obesity).
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take control of their health, even if not overweight.
For a while I stuck to the daily 16h fast whilst eating healthy and exercising, and while I didn't shed weight left right and center it did wonders for my mental health and general cardiovascular health but I certainly felt stressed that I needed to cram in all the daily recommended nutrients in 2 meals and 1 snack...
The simple truth is, if you eat 1 less calorie than your body requires for a day you will lose weight, if you eat 1 more you will gain weight. (edited)
Watch this, excellent explanation
This is all we hear about weight loss.... The key is these people only do it for a short period, after which it all piles back on + often more.
We are commercially doomed to ill heath and obesity.... Mega companies make more money out of us cattle this way.
