    But dietary cholesterol has been completely debunked as being a contributor to high cholesterol levels, hence these days you can knock yourself munching eggs etc. it’s an old theory that was found to be wrong.

    What they found was that dietary cholesterol only contributes to around 25% of the cholesterol in your blood. Marketing of eggs turned that into dietary cholesterol doesn't matter. It's an old theory that was found to be right. But, this book is more about low cholesterol foods which means foods that are low in saturated fat. Saturated fat being what adds most to your blood cholesterol. (edited)

    They've been known for years to help with depression. I think in the 1970's they were doing studies in the U.S with very promising results but mysteriously pulled funding and went anti mushrooms because 'big mushrooms bad, and big pharma good' lol. (edited)

    Simple.

    Plant foods = no dietary cholesterol
    Animal products = cholesterol

    Depending on what animal derived foods you consume will depend on the amount of cholesterol. For example, (shellfish) such as prawns are very high in cholesterol, but ironically have an anti inflammatory effect.

    This always raises the statement, everything in moderation.

    It's only a minor point but in the introduction the book says the American Heart Association advises a diet [...] rich in [...] saturated and trans fats'. It doesn't and I assume that is just a typo and the rest of the advice is excellent.
