Web hosting

Hi We got a basic church website hosted on one.com and it is due for renewal. The price is £90. I had a look online and most of them seem expensive. Has anyone got any recommendations on cheap web hosting please? Is it hard to change the provider? We got all the pages/data in the church laptop. Less than 10gb in size. Thanks in advance.

if your church is a charity too, then there may be some companies out there that will offer free hosting.

A quick google came back with these people:

    kualo.co.uk/fre…ing

    There may be more.

    Good luck!

    Simple to change host?
Most platforms will have a tool to clone both the website and associated mailboxes,
and/or the new host's support will clone everything on your behalf if you can supply current hosting account login.

One-off £20 for unlimited lifetime web and email hosting with ridiculous number of features including the new host performing migration of your existing website,
all from a longstanding UK-based limited company.
So pay once and forget about any future renewal fees (until the end of the world or until the end of the limited company).

Often relisted by same seller when sells out (at varying prices, often higher than current £20):

This hosting is a resell of an excellent unlimited 20i product
    20i.com/web…ing

Some contacts & myself have purchased.
Excellent product, OK support. No issues, happy to recommend in its current format.

If the current £20 lifetime unlimited hosting price is too cheap, jump in your DeLorean and go back a few months to when it was £300

or make an offer to buy the hosting element of the ltd company for a few hundred quid,
    or four hundred quid,
    or four grand
depending on what day of the week it isn't

How soon "due for renewal" is it?

The foreign sharks at One.con operate a subscription model where sub cancellation requires at least one month notice to terminate.
One.con send a renewal reminder at two months prior to renewal,
meaning the customer has to not dismiss the notice as being too early and should make their own diary notes to check if their requirements/expectations are still being met no later than 10.9 months after inception/renewal.
OP may already be shafted to commit to another 12 months regardless of the service(s) being required / acceptable value or not.

    one.con customer-shafting terms:
Subscription periods last for 12 months at a time. 30 days before a 12-month subscription period, the subscription is automatically prolonged, unless the subscription is cancelled as stated in...:

...Since the subscription period lasts for 12 months and is automatically prolonged 30 days before the end of each 12-month period, a cancellation must be received by one.con 30 days before the 12-month subscription period, at the latest. The unused portion of any advance payment will not be
refunded. If the cancellation is not sent to one.con in time, the customer is obliged to pay the subscription fee for the following 12-month period.

You can get this deal on Stacksocial for lifetime hosting of one site. I imagine the exchange rate would put it around £25 quid.
