its pointless getting a laptop with 8gb ram. it doesn't cost much more to get one with 16gb ram and you will enjoy using it much more - double the satisfaction for the sake of less than £50 is a no brainer, unless you dont have a brain.

You can upgrade this to 16gb ram with £10 and 5 minutes of your time

The "16" in the product title made me think it was 16gb RAM, but alas it looks to be just 8gb. A decent price at £584 but I do think 4050 laptops around £600 will be upon us soon.

Yes , it’s 8 gb , there is though a 16 gb available at £629 after discount but has a 12th gen I5 . I went for this personally as Ram is upgradable and is current gen i5 . (edited)

3050 sucks, spend a bit more, cause this is already out of date for modern demanding stuff, so in a few years it's really gonna suck with the demanding games from then.
    AdelRawas's avatar
Well, this is the 6gb version and £500. It is a great deal

You could get 3.75% off the max £500 e-gift card through Discount Gift Card. It equates to almost £19 off. Just beware that any refunds would likely be to your original payment method as gift cards.

I am sorry but this is just not worth it.

People seem to believe that the amount of vram is important, no, that is actually secondary.

A 60hp engine will still be a 60hp engine at the end of the day.

If a gpu cannot keep up with processing information as fast as it needs to then vram becomes irrelevant.

Although this gpu is technically a dedicated gpu, let’s not forget that laptop gpus are not only stripped of performance but also wattage.

Having a 3050 in a laptop with 144hz to only be able to hit 144hz in cs go defeats the purpose of having a 144hz laptop if you will experience 60hz or less in all of the games that you play.

Even then in most games you will have to remember to optimise for medium-high to high settings and for £600 that is just a slap in the face.

You would be better off buying a used laptop with a 3070 for a similar price on ebay

Alternatively I would recommend going for the 40 series since you will be able to take advantage of DLSS in a more efficient capacity.

    *yes even the 4050

Do you have any alternative recommendations for a budget around £600?  My son plays minecraft and fortnite, and would need it for school homework.  Any guidance would be great appreciated

This is not a gaming laptop
    smellyonion's avatar
Yes it is. It'll play most games. The more modern ones medium to low.

Is the ram soldered on can it be easily upgraded to 16GB?
    AdelRawas's avatar
Yes can very easily be upgraded. I upgraded one this morning.

I'm more of a console gamer but I want to emulate ps2 and such. Would this be able to emulate really well, preferably in 4k?
    Affray's avatar
The screen isn't 4k (it's 1080p), but you could output it to a monitor in 4k I'd imagine.
  14. Rayhaan_Patel's avatar
Is this a verry good deal or are there better gaming laptops to buy at this price
    Smoggy1970's avatar
To get a better spec you will probably have to buy a second hand laptop.
  15. alan.evans's avatar
I haven't got a clue about laptops.  Would this play minecraft and fortnite?  Son would put himself up for adoption if I bought this and he couldn't play them.  Thanks
    AdelRawas's avatar
Yes they would play them very very very well. I would still advise you to upgrade the ram to 16gb by buying a ram stick. Many videos on YouTube how to do it and it takes 5 minutes to do
  16. markhh's avatar
This is a great deal for a budget gaming laptop however for an extra £155 you can get this which even though its abit more the specs outweigh the extra cost IMHO
