this is not the neo version and doesn't have mini led display as stated in discription on very an some other retailers websites

the lowest acer predator helios with rtx 4070, i7 etc we seen was a neo model at £1300 so this just over £100 is a good price for the orginal helios brand.. also compared to other rtx 4070 systems.

So laptop arrived and I've set it all up! Performance is amazing and a huge upgrade to my previous 1070, i7 machine.

However... Whilst playing cyberpunk tonight I was hitting temps of 98 degrees on the CPU which is definitely not good.

The predatorsense application allows you to control fan settings and performance etc. so I'm sure once I get the hang of what these settings do I can make sure the temp is lower, and there's plenty of other things I can manage to reduce these temps. Not great for day 2 of use though!

Fan wise, once gaming they can get rather loud (girlfriend has already complained... ).

All in all, amazing performance, but thermals are currently concerning...

Depends on your budget. The Acer will perform better in games as the CPUs are similar but 4070 will outperform the 4060s in the other laptops

    Hello Again

Thank you to everyone who has posted. I much appreciate the advice. I see the lenovo deal has expired now. The dell laptop looks good, but I do not know if it is a better choice than the acer predator. I am seriously thinking about the predator. I have been reading online that the gaming laptops get hot and the fans are very noisy if set to higher level. Is this anything to be concerned about?
Can anyone please give me any advice on this please. My son is autistic and I just want to get him the best laptop I can. If you had a budget of £1000 -£1500, is this the one to get or is there another better option. The original budget was £1000, but I am willing to pay more for the right laptop.
Thank you again for your advice.

Yep majority if not all gaming laptop will get hot and loud. But if it has a good cooling system inside and if the laptop is used on a stand or cooling pad, nothing to worry about. It all depends on his gaming needs. Does he already have a console? Do you know which games he’s into and would like to play? (edited)

    Hello Emre
Thank you and everyone else for responding.
My son has a good pc which was
built and we got in 2021 with some advice from a compute person. He spends a lot of time on that and really likes it. He now wants a gaming laptop to use in bed and when he is visiting
etc. He plays Roblox, football manager , Spider-Man , Star Wars , streaming stuff and you tube . Then he also wants to use it for day to day things as well. He has had a console which we have sold it because he finds computers easier to use.

    Thank you again

To be honest a steam deck, rog alloy or the legion go may be better. If he’s intending for bed use, don’t get a gaming laptop ! Funny enough for gaming laptops using them whilst gaming on your lap isn’t a good idea. I think for his use case, a handheld pc will be much better, and better in your budget. I believe the rog is on sale on Amazon right now. (edited)

Anyone know if this will take 64Gb RAM (2x32Gb) and if so which type recommended?
