I grew up nearby and the ownership has now passed back to owners from a few years ago when it had a much better reputation

Fridays and Saturdays are an extra £10 per night. plus a £20-per-night supplement applies to 7-10 April, 29 April-1 May, 6-8; and 27-29 May.

So go most weekends, and it's £150. For comparison, Trivago charges £178 for 6-8 May with free cancellation, but no breakfast. Not a deal for me as I'd rather pick a preferred hotel and place to visit.

A 15 minute drive would easily get you to Bassenthwaite Lake (fun fact the only actual one named "Lake"). I live a few miles away. The hotel has only recently got new owners after the place closed for a week or two.

Is the place worth visiting now? Considering I'll be using rail and I don't have a car
