The Zaskar Expert with Rockshox 35 Gold, SRAM NX and dropper is an absolute bargain for £1099.

Only S and XL left. I have the XL and it's superb. (edited)

    Well thought out comment Glenn...

The Voodoo Bizango 29'er is a cracking bike, and is widely regarded as best in it's class.

I've been riding for Bizango for the last 2 years and it's been excellent for the money.

So they need to get all the range on the rear sprockets. To get a tall ratio, they would need a very small rear sprocket. I'm not sure how much smaller they could go. Also, with my "normal" set up, the smallest rear sprocket is already the one that always wears out first. I wouldn't want that to be any worse, which seems inevitable if putting an even smaller rear sprocket on.

If you have a look around, you'll see that '1x' chainsets, ie single chainring, are totally standard on modern mountain bikes across the board.

I ride a modern 1x drivetrain bike. It has sprockets from 11 to 46, and I virtually never need to use the biggest or smallest sprocket. The range is great and I have never found myself spinning out, even full tilt downhill. Have a look at Sheldon's Gear Calculator and you can se the range of gears on a modern 1x bike.

Your 'normal' is now outdated as 1x drivetrains are the standard on modern mountain bikes for the reasons others have commented. My 1x12 offers 520% range.

Rather small front sprockets? Seems to be the in trend?

These sprockets are small, the ones out there are far away.

For me this is the only bike to go for between an Argos £110 bike and this £599 price level. Go cheap or go decent, this is where decent starts.

Only problem is trying to find one on stock. Even harder to get the spectacularly good value Bizango pro.

Not clear if this is 27.5 or 29" wheels, both are listed for tyres and wheels... I think 27.5 since the other 29ers bikes have 29 in their listing titles, but not sure. (edited)

It’s exactly the same as 20 years ago. That is part of GT’s problem. Because most modern mtb’s aren’t anything like the bikes of 20 years ago.

How does a Voodoo Braag compare? I've been waiting for stock of the Braag as I can use my cycle2work with Halfords but I'm quite close to giving up now!

I have this and the wheels and tyres are not tubeless ready. It also does not have
thru axles which it really should have had. It comes with two quick release skewers which I would replace asap. I'm annoyed about the lack of thru axles as the hubs are very basic and can't be converted so you have to buy a new hub and replace it because the suspension is not great. Also remember to pick up a shock pump. I got this one from Amazon Beto SP-002AGN
