Fine that it doesn't need an educational email address but it does ask for name and date of birth. It also asks for region and school city and name which I assume must be entered to register?
There is an option for home schooling, if you choose that, it does not matter whether you put student or teacher but all boxes have to be filled
Ah.
It says you must be able to provide proof of enrolment/status. Probably unlikely they'll check, although if a lot of people on here start signing up as home schooled they may well look into it and if you're providing all real details (or even if they can just find out by IP address) there's no proof if you're not a student/teacher.
The programme I want to use is thousands of pounds to buy. Not sure I want to risk saying I'm home schooled.
You can use 3DS Max to export your 3D Models as .stl files, which are supported by several 3D printers and 3D Printing services.
I believe you can also get models exported as .stl from Maya, but only after installing an externally available plug-in.
Blender (http://www.blender.org/)
Pretty much every latest Auto desk software. For free!

I'm of the same opinion, we can't port torrents - this really isn't any better for non-students. It's the companies mistake for not requiring an education e-mail address but that doesn't make it legal and there's not guarantee they won't try to track down those who abuse it. Each application is worth hundreds or thousands of pounds, it'd be in their interest to do so.
Don't know how long ago you were a student, but they've been offering free access to the entire Autodesk collection (education, non-commercial use of course) since late 2009, possibly before, but that was when I activated my account with them.

2008-2010 I was a student and needing Autodesk. I had to make do with trials. I searched the offical Autodesk site, googled how I could get the programmes free (legally) and I tried various searches, asked on forums and all sorts. Even the teachers sort of hinted at torrents. At no point did I find a link to get free access to the collection
This is mostly for students & amateurs
SolidWorks is for the professionals
Can't compare really.
Have to admit solid works is a lot better than these packages
