About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
Updated: now under £281.00!!! Even better deal!!!I
have been looking for a decentish laptop for under £300 and took the plunge on an HP laptop that I posted on here which got some heat.
This laptop for a little more money (£30) has some features that were missing from the HP laptop and would improve performance. The Lenovo has both 8GB of ram plus a 128GB SSD which should make it quite snappy. There is also a USB C present which is a great to have. The Lenovo also has a full HD screen which again at this price point is decent.
There are potentially some negatives which I want to point out (before others do lol) is that the battery life seems pants at about 4 hours which is fine for me as it's primarily a house PC so doesn't get transported anywhere.
The other potential negative is the processor which is an AMD FX processor which I have no real knowledge about. I have looked at benchmarks etc but to be honest they mean nothing to me ...and the more I research the more confused I get.
It seems that it would be good enough for general usage and maybe some very light gaming but am no expert.
Hope this helps someone out

A clean install of Windows takes hardly any time at all. Windows 10 is rock solid. So I'm not sure why you'd want to limit yourself with a Chromebook. But as long as you're happy with what you have, then that's all good
You can easily reinstall a fresh Windows 7 or 8. A new license is £15 - £20 from Software Geeks or Kinguin. Download the OS from Microsoft. Then install it.
What??????? i thought everybody had such a room
Not sure about the AMD... Anyone have any experience / views on the processor please?
I have 2 Chromebooks myself and love them, however there are some things that I now find I need Windows for and this at the price ticks the boxes.....I know you can add Linux to a Chromebook but really don't want to mess around with that lol
i once bought an atari jaguar............................. i'll say no more!!!
GPU compare says different and that both can be played using this CPU albeit at the lowest settings which has been confirmed by a number of people on this thread.
I personally can't confirm as I am no expert so rely on the opinion of others and a bit of web research. Thanks for your views as it's always good to have some proper balance in terms of opinions
I won't let my 8 year old play fortnite because it's so expensive. Especially when I have to pay for his fags and beers
You're right. You didn't say that. In fact you didn't say much of anything. Which made it pretty misleading and useless for someone weighing up whether to spend £300.
Glad we got some clarity in the end though.
Yes, I’m afraid I do. I have a 27” iMac I turn on @ Christmas, I have a Hp omen, i7, 16gb, 4k. Prob turned on about 8 or 10 times. MacBook Air...... can’t remember last time I turned on....... a sad life I lead
Yes just found out the exact processor in it. Seems to be fx-9800p which is very similar to the i3 so a very good deal
Is it going in the back room of no return or?
Got a feeling that phrase is going to catch on here
......I will be using this one haha
That sounds familiar,my room of no return is full.So i now have a penthouse of no return to fill, its the attic!!!!
I really like the HP especially the battery life and newer processor, however I have decided that the benefits of the Lenovo outweigh the advantages of the HP but again it's a personal choice
Thread doesn't exist?
yes totally agree with you, I just bought it anyway and am hoping it has an M2 slot available for a SSD
You can download Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 direct from Microsoft.
microsoft.com/en-…oad
Burn the ISO file to a DVD and then install it.
Then go to Software Geeks and buy the license.
Should post this as a deal .....would get some heat from me
for me.
Upgraded to the latest bios, hardly any options to change in bios but nothing new. The fan starts running about 38c and after a few more c it sounds like it's accelerating and decelerating making it sound worse than a steady spin. I don't know why they decided to make the fan spin at a low temp, they might as well not start the fan til 50c or so, when it gets to 50c it's already going too fast I think.
You can make a new power saver profile and I was able to play simple games at 1080p at 40-41c
Oh has space to fit a dvd drive, but just comes with a plastic placeholder. Also uses a standard 2.5" SSD, no M.2 slot as far as I can see. The RAM looks like it's soldered to the board too, I think it was under some metal casing which I couldn't see a way of taking off.
Battery: L16M2PB1 7.5v 4000mah 30Whr
HD: Intel SSD Pro 5450s (edited)
Yeah that’s the one I got it arrived a few days ago really good price I’m just waiting for the DVD/HDD (£12) to turn up and plan on replacing the main HDD with a 120gb SSD (£19) and then putting the original HDD in the DVD/HDD Caddy.:)
Are you sure that's the graphics card used? I thought it was just this integrated graphics solution - systemrequirementslab.com/gpu…399
Looks like the model with the Radeon 530 GPU has a 1TB regular hard drive, not SSD and the A10-9620P processor rather than the FX-9800P (edited)
Also is this Matt or gloss screen please
I read quite a few reviews and they were definitely mixed, however I think that all AMD reviews are lumped together therefore cannot really gauge where this laptop fits in. I have read some that referred to the A9 and A6 processors which this is not.
Not sure about the screen and cannot seem to find the answer to your question on their site sorry.
I know what you mean , I have only needed a windows laptop once in the last year and that was to download the latest Garmin maps to my satnav . Used my partners as I can't download anything with my works laptop. That's why I was looking at this , it's just I had a bad experience with Lenovo.
That seems a bit optimistic. According to this site, it will meet Fortnite's minimum spec but not the recommended spec.
