    What? It's got a proper 8 core processor, 16gb ram and a 1tb SSD. How is it not well specced? 😳

    Also HDMI 1.4. These were getting old hat back before the crazy started 4 years ago.

    I've got the 8GB version of this. It is a basic level laptop to be honest. I just needed it for Office and producing letters etc, it is ok for that purpose but I wished I'd got a Mac - Windows is just a pos OS these days and gets in your way. I may look at Linux in future just to avoid all the annoyances that 11 has and will get worse over time in that area.

    * My particular screen is billed as IPS but looks like a TN panel to me
    * Colours are crap (even with 'tuning')
    * Brightness is crap
    * Keyboard is adequate to type on but not backlit
    * Battery is crap life wise.
    * 1TB has crap speed wise (probably got a low end one in it. However it won't matter for most uses at this price point I suppose.
    * Hinge system is crap
    * USB-C port that is data only is crap. It may differ on the posters model due to spec variation.
    * CPU performance is ok. Browsing on Firefox or running Office exhibits some stutters from time, even in performance mode. Don't even remotely try gaming.

    I'm going to throw another 8GB DIMM in there at some point just so it can handle Win11's general crap services and bloat better as future updates will just add more useless junk that you have no say in.

    I struggled to find a decent laptop at about £350 to be honest and I am not at all a fan of laptops - prefer tablets as you get more hardware for your money. Dell I've always trusted in the past so I hope this serves me well for producing light work whilst my wife hogs my Mac/Gaming desk whilst she works from home during daytimes. (edited)

    Linux is terrible on Dell laptops. Eats power. Wont allow you to charge bluetooth headphones while using them. Lots of issues.

    Thanks OP for this post. I bought two of these with bags for my nephews last night. The NHS Code can be requested for each laptop which saved twenty quid and then we applied the accessories discount for the bags too!

    I'm confused. It says with optional WiFi 6? I don't see that in any of the configurable items?

    The Dell Inspiron 15 laptop seemed to offer great specs for its price. I intended to run a stress test and check the hardware temperatures to see how well it performed. However, right after installing updates, the laptop already started overheating. The fan noise was unbearable. I had to pack it back into the box and initiate a return within minutes of turning it on, without even getting to the testing part. As a second-year student with some experience with laptops, I found the build quality disappointing, especially the cheap-looking matte plastic. I wouldn't recommend this laptop based on my experience. It's important to have a reliable and comfortable working device, and unfortunately, this laptop didn't meet those criteria.
