Not a bad deal for the 512GB model. Great little machines these. They’re even promoting Metal on these for gaming which is slowly taking off again (not that anyone should buy a Mac purely for gaming still, but it’s nice to see). Add the addition of the iOS apps being made available alongside the Mac OS ones and the small form factor and you have a winner.

I recommend the latest Apple Magic keyboard for easy fingerprint entry though the Logitech K380 is also great as it lets you connect to this and 2 other devices at the same time and has near enough the same form factor. Don’t get the Apple mouse, though, far better off with a Logitech or other make, it’s one of the things Apple still hasn’t got right, which is odd considering they introduced the mouse in the first place. I agree. I use the m1 mini daily and it’s wonderful. The Apple keyboard is great but expensive. Still looking to find a cheap deal for one. The mouse however I disagree with. I managed to snag a genuine version 2 one from EBay for £55 (probably hooky) and they’re great once you get used to them. It’s gesture support and multi touch that are essentials for me. I’m guessing big bloke’s hands may have a problem with them though.

It would be very good if they wouldn't weld everything to the board like they do in cheapest laptops in some companies.
    Planned obsolence pro plus...

    It’s a bit of a misnomer, really. Not every company does this for the same reason and yes, it’s nicer to have something you can replace but there are two main reasons why components are soldered to the motherboard;
    - They aren’t the same generic components that could be removed and replaced, they’re purpose built with the board.
    - removing the need for physical connections speeds processes up and allows for more robust hardware that is less likely to go wrong over time.

Can it run Crysis in 4K at 60FPS?

Got M1 Mini 8GB 256Gb for Kids as PC ,one big issue is that it is paired with Dell 25Inch 2K monitor and scaling is really bad Yes there are work around use third party soft to do "native scale "
but still text looks weird compare if Dell monitor connect to windows PC

Do not forget that in reality for OS you need force track pad to get all these finger gestures Yes you can use say Logitech mouse and program buttons to do various things but it is not mac experience

The deal is not bad if you have apple accessories

I would prefer the to buy M2 Air macbook for around £1000 I know it is will be 256 GB but you get full PC with screen etc Compare to Mac Mini and need accessories I think if you add Keyboard mouse and monitor will be more then Macbook Air M2

I bought my M1 mini 8GB 256GB for £350 when from amazon warehouse deal long time ago

25inch 2k is a odd screen size I think the problems you have is more down to
    your monitor choice

Why has no one mentioned the 8GB of RAM yet? Come on, you're slacking.
    pb-live's avatar
They did, it was removed. Presumably for trolling, considering the yawningly large number of Apple deals that some ( mostly the same) people insist on rolling the tired old non-argument out on.

Really hope they offer more memory on these as standard when I come to upgrading, it's so annoying that you can't just add any extra ram anymore.

Yes unified memory is good, but it still has it's limits and I want to run AI stuff, so the unified memory still doesn't cut it and 16gb is recommended.
