Never bought a used phone, what is “good” condition generally like from this seller? Thinking of upgrading for someone still on a iphone 6s

Anything from decent to ‘looks like it has been towed behind a car for a few miles’.

Also if they have new batteries, you know these have been opened up before and have no ability to verify the quality of the workmanship, but I’ve opened a couple of Music Magpie phones in the past and was not impressed - including using carpet tape to hold the battery down, missing or loose screws and variable quality batteries.

I would say buy a good used grade but expect to maybe have to return it. Personally, I don’t touch a phone where I know it’s a third-party repair.

I bought one of these last week for my niece from MM - well, it was a 'good' condition iphone 12 pro, and it has a third-party replacement battery. So cannot check the battery health, and it also has the non-genuine apple part warning showing in settings. However it charges fine, holds its charge fine and is working well. She is very happy.

In my opinion that should be classed as not fully functional

Good replacement for my wife's SE 2020? :/
    itsnotmeitsyou's avatar
I would say not. It is only one year newer in terms of the chip (A14 vs A13 in the 2020). I think an SE 2022 would be a much better buy - may be a bit cheaper and it has an A15 chip.

This one is £250 and will be in much better condition than the MM one ebay.co.uk/itm…zUR
Cheapest Electrical is often included in the 15% codes etc which would make this one around £212 but you'd need to wait for the next code but they're very frequent.

Wonder if they are genuine Apple batteries as the replacements? Maybe it doesn't matter though if not? Thinking of buying for a parent who uses an iPhone 8, I think. (edited)

I doubt it. It is normally very hard to get genuine Apple parts. I can be very wrong though.

Will the battery health report still work on these replacement batteries?
    Fiddles's avatar
They have a way round it now with programming the battery

Hoe long will these receive updates?

Probably added £50+ to the price compared to the price on the Music Magpie website?
I was looking at the iPhone 12 Pro Max a couple of days ago, and the price on eBay was £55 more than the Music Magpie website!?? So you’re not getting a true discount with the code.
*edit…. £249.99 on Music Magpie website! Compared to £307 on evil bay (edited)
