    These are so cheap it hardly matters, but the no.1 issue with wired headphones is that the cable is directly connected to the one ear unit (or both). This will ALWAYS be the point of failure at some point, when unavoidable flex breaks the copper conductor in the wire near the headphone.

    WIRELESS headphones typically also have a wired mode, BUT the wire plugs into a socket on the headphone body, meaning that even if used wired, flex damage is never an issue (at worse, only the cable needs to be replaced).

    Really expensive wired headphones can have a hard-wired cable, though they will try to use better cable protectors, or thicker copper- which still fail in time.

    All very well, but isn't the number 1 item which will fail in consumer electronics the battery?

    And a battery will fail no matter how careful the user treats the item, whereas cables breaking at least has some element of user "blame" to it.
