To get a rare one you don't cook it slowly though
paulbennett90411 h, 0 m ago

They never have these in store.

They're very rare. Well done if you find one.

Yes,their beef is hit n miss,I've had one that was delicious and one that was like old boots. As for the beef Wellington, that was a disgrace.

16oz rubber steak, not rump...

How do people manage to buy them to complain about how bad they are then?
How is this such a bargain when Tesco have 8oz rump steak for £2.34?

Because they limit the number they have or don’t even get them on the shelves in many cases alway a complaint when they get posted on here stock levels are generally poor.
I love their ribeye steaks - delicious and good price for them (below £3 each). Have bad experience with their rumps, though, so will give it a miss.
Thanks!

I bought one last week! Thought wow what a cheap price and it actually tasted alright. However next time I’ll go back to paying an extra £1.50/2 at my local Butchers for more than an ‘ok’ steak. Would be better in a dish with other elements, rather than a stand alone steak!

That can apply to anything from any supermarket. We bought a Tesco Finest joint of beef which looked beautiful, but was tough as nails. My then 5 year old son nearly choked on it and hasn't touched beef since.

Finding a good butcher is worth its weight in fillet. Mine introduced me to flat iron steak - superb.

Why tho?
Same at Lidl too

I bought a pack of 4 chicken bosoms from Tesco and cooked two in a curry. I have never before eaten chicken as tough and tasteless. I got a refund on the whole pack of 4 and the curry sauce.
Why should I lose money on something totally inedible.

That is very true! My butcher converted me back to rump steaks over rib eyes even though the rumps are cheaper to buy from him. Had some very poor steaks in my time especially from supermarkets, although having said that M and S do some fantastic steaks, but obviously charge a bit more of a premium.
Its a £4.99 steak from Aldi I doubt many people will be rushing out to buy a sealer and water oven to cook it
If you want to do a HUKD version of Sous Vide (slow cooked and perfect consistency all the way through - and most importantly warm all the way through) put a pan of water on that’s about 90c and then immerse the steaks in their vacuum pack for about 6-8 minutes then unpack the steak and cook in a blazing hot pan for about 60 seconds each side to get the fat caramelised and crisp. Rest for 5 mins and serve with all the chips you can find.

Consistent rare and medium rare steaks every time. It’s my pleasure.

We've been getting flat irons recently too, and I think it is a great cut of meat! I'd second your butcher's recommendation! And to throw in my two cents on the big daddy steaks, we've had a couple of them, never been bad, but nothing to rave home about!

Tasted many old boots?
Only things worth trying to get are the non-food items. Never seen any of these bargain steaks even if I go out of my way to get them first thing.
Plus, rump steak is cheap, it's not a major bargain.

Yeh,normally the marks beef
