Thanks Aldi but people who shop in Aldi are there usually to save money …Thanks Aldi but people who shop in Aldi are there usually to save money not waste it we have an energy crisis going on some people can't afford to use the oven to cook it never mind buy this to cook on it

If you can't afford it, don't buy it? They're not forcing you and they still have cheaper options, at the same time it's still a good deal if someone wants to spoil themselves and can't afford it at full price at the restaurant. It's not a big deal.

Although 227g would only cost you £4.48 - hardly a fortune. (edited)

Great price. Down side ? No Aldi in Northern Ireland .

Down side? Last time they advertised the Ribeye Wagyu around 6 months ago I searched far and wide in about 10 Aldi's (UK) and not one had any! (edited)

I'm not sure that's Aldis business plan. Sure, it provides cheap groceries, but they also try to entice in and appeal to those with larger disposable incomes with their Specially Selected products like this. I personally think their cheapest products are poor value for money, in terms of taste and quality, and I don't buy them. I might buy this, but probably not. Their ordinary Specially Selected steaks aren't that bad for what you pay, but nowhere near as good as a steak from a good independent butcher.
You get what you pay for, and unfortunately, there are, and always will be, those , as you rightly identify, who don't have the same choice. But that shouldn't determine the totality of their product lines. Or we're back to Russia in the 70s.

There are people suffocating in the world at this very moment but I feel not a twinge of guilt in breathing deep lungfuls of clean, salty sea air. I have had money and I also have had none. Its OK to enjoy less frugal embellishments in life if you can afford it. Its optional to resent those who can afford things which you cannot and the wisdom to know the difference is free.

I don't know why but Wagu always reminds me of.... (skip to 1 min 12 seconds if you want to get to the "meaty" bit)

A fair of assessment of the situation for some in modern times but not Aldi's fault, it's Peppa Bojo's.

I bought 2 Aldi wagyu fillet steaks and we had them last night, one of the best steaks we have had from a supermarket in a long time! (edited)

Our local market, rather than being filled with fresh, locally sourced meat is now largely full of meat sourced from Eastern Europe, most of it is previously frozen and left out to defrost. No doubt much gets refrozen. They often have packs saying ideal for freezing...

I'm always ammazed by how often people refer to either independent butchers or markets on here, treating both with such trust and enthusiasm. How do they know where the meat's come from?
