sorted by1) Get trade in quote and email/print (not strictly necessary as they can do this in store)
2) Set up Currys “Your Plan” ahead of going to store - necessary to get interest free offer and doing it in advance makes life easier in store. You get an 8 digit account number to quote in store.
3) Go to store and ask for iphone 13 green pre-order with a trade in using existing Your Plan for 36mths interest free
4) Takes about 20 mins in store - they do the trade in first to generate the gift card they use to pay a deposit of the same amount on the phone. Should be fine - staff in Weston all new what they were doing.
Note : extra £100 trade in fine against iphone 13 mini (i know this model isn’t listed on all sections of curry’s website for the extra trade in).
I was half expecting a wasted journey but it went smoothly and staff in curry’s all new their stuff. Fingers crossed the phone arrives next week.
£729 - £101 = £628
Before I ordered the e-gift card with my work scheme, I checked with the technician if giftcard is accepted *(see below) which he confirmed that only phones sold on Currys main site is allowed.
Then I ordered £625 Currys e-gift card at 7% off (£43.75 off), paid £3 remaining with credit card (for section 75 protection, even paying small amount on credit card, the total transaction is over £100 so is covered).
So it cost me £587.25.
* Roughly about a year ago, Currys split their mobile phone business where they now sell mobiles on currys.co.uk/mob…le/. They do not allow gift card payments if purchasing a phone via the Currys Mobile website.
If the phone is on the main Currys website (i.e. iPhone Green models and new SE 2022 pre-orders) you are allowed to use giftcards towards this (you can see for yourself. Add the iPhone green to your basket, go to checkout and it will let you pay with giftcard. If you choose a different phone to buy on Currys Mobile, it will only let you pay by card). (edited)
Yeah looks like instant e-gift. You’ll want to order it when your there after they confirmed they let you use it if your paying it all in store (just incase they refuse and be stuck with the credit). If they let you take the £100 trade in voucher home, you can order it at home with the e-gift card (and potentially go through topcashback or Quidco for more cashback).
Perks at work gives 7% off e-gift
Bluelight gives 5.75% off e-gift
As above top gift cards gives 5.2% off e-gift
If you got Chase debit card, you get extra 1% when you purchase the e-gift card.
or if you got Amex apparently you can get 5% back paying directly with Currys hotukdeals.com/dea…120 (edited)
For everyone saying that they can't get the deal, read the previous posts as they have instructions on how other people including myself have got the deal to work.
If you want to do a trade-in online, you would need to:
1. Do the trade-in estimate currys.co.uk/ser…tml, then select the £100 offer, then enter your details and send your phone back to them. If all checks out then they will send a BACS transfer (NOT GIFT CARD) to your account for the trade-in value including the £100, in my case I would've got £235 total (£135 XR Value + £100 extra) transferred to my account.
*You only get an egift card if you trade in-store, it states this on the trade-in 'how it works' section*.
2. You buy your iPhone 13 full price via the CURRYS Mobile website and pay the full price. I'm guessing that they'd probably ask you for proof of purchase once you've sent the phone you want to trade into them to confirm you definitely purchased an iPhone 13.
*You don't get any money off or a gift card for the initial purchase. You only get your trade-in money once they've received and checked your phone and sent you the BACS transfer*.
If you want to do a trade-in in-store, you would need to:
*First check that the phone you want is in stock on the currys mobile website, as quite a few are sold out. Both stores I went to said if it is in stock then they can order it for collection from the store. It could take up to 7 days. If they cannot order the phone in, then proceed with caution as you may end up stuck with an egift card that you can only use to buy an iPhone 13 that may take a good while to come into stock. You won't be able to buy anything else from Currys with it*.
1. Personally, I'd get a trade-in estimate via this link currys.co.uk/ser…tml (only doable via a desktop/laptop) and email a copy to yourself so you can show them in store that it has the £100 extra offer.
2. Go into store and proceed to the repair and support section (It is the peachy, pale yellow section). From my experience, they are the ones that process trade in's and should know what to do. If you ask another colleague, they may not know.
Note: Do not go to the mobiles section as that is carphone warehouse, if you do they will tell you that it can only be done online which is correct for carphone warehouse but not Currys. It is confusing as they are wearing Currys uniform but they aren't part of Currys yet. Just state that you want to trade into Currys and not carphone warehouse and proceed to the repair and support section and say you want to do a trade-in and use it to purchase an iPhone 13.
3. Make sure they check that they can order the phone into store for you. This is standard practice I was told. Once they confirm then proceed with your trade in.
4. The colleague should ask what phone you want to trade in. They will then check that it's working and tell you to remove find my phone, then they input details into their computer, keep an eye on their computer and you will see that the extra £100 offer should show up. Make sure you tell them you'd like to use the £100 extra offer and want them to purchase the iPhone 13 for you straight after trading in. *Bring your charger cable as they need to see that it charges and may not have your cable type to hand*
5. Once they trade in your phone and take it from you and sign it over etc, the same person should then generate your egift card on their computer, if the phone you want is in stock on the currys mobile website, then they can order the phone into the store for you. They apparently carry very limited stock in store. Once they confirm the phone you want is in stock, the person will place the order for you, using the egift card with the trade-in value in my case it was £235 (£135 XR Value + £100 extra). You then pay the remaining amount, in my case £494 and then they print out your receipt and a copy of your customer order receipt (that confirms they have ordered the iphone 13 into store for you) and will tell you that they will call you when your phone is ready to collect.
Please note: there are many typos on the currys website which makes it confusing but their trade-in payment rules are "Trade-in value and additional discounted value will be received via a BACS transfer if you trade-in online and via a Currys gift card if you trade-in instore." As I stated the egift card is used straight away by the sales assistant as part payment for your new phone.
I personally chose to do the deal instore as then I knew for sure, the trade-in was valid. As some others have stated you may have to try different stores in case the staff just don't know what they are doing, but you should hopefully get someone who is knowledgeable. My salesperson gave me no issues whatsoever. I am still waiting for my new phone , hopefully it comes on Monday. They did take the XR but I chose to use an old phone for a few days rather than deal with the hassle of doing it online. (edited)
I tracked it down to currys.co.uk/ser…tml ....and that was only from the screenshot above. I have no links/drop downs etc on desktop at least, (edited)
I posted this earlier. Currys sell all their phones on their new website. Any gift card credit cannot be used on currys mobile website. That’s what the terms are referring to. Sometimes Currys sell preorders of new phones such as green iPhone on their main website. As it’s on their main website you can use it. If your in doubt, you can order £10 from top giftcard and add the green iPhone in your basket and apply the giftcard towards the order.
Here what I posted earlier.
Roughly about a year ago, Currys split their mobile phone business where they now sell mobiles on currys.co.uk/mob…le/. They do not allow gift card payments if purchasing a phone via the Currys Mobile website.

Seems like when a new iPhone is coming out, you can pre-order via Curry's Main website which allows giftcard. Now that the Green iPhone has officially been released yesterday, they transferred it to their Currys Mobile website. Currys Mobile don't allow giftcards.
I’ve traded in 3 iPads on a previous deal for iPad Air . Really quick and easy doing it in store , they literally power it on and the within 10 mins your walking out with your new device
Well it goes towards the cost of the iPhone 13. (edited)
Can’t sniff at an extra tenner on top
Any working xr is the same price trade in by the looks of it
£135 + 100
carphonewarehouse.com/mob…tml (edited)
It does say trade in any phone. You just show them these terms if they refuse. You tell them it’s a separate offer that applies to only green iPhone 13s. They put in the green SKU and they should see the offer.
the other trade in offer for iPhone pro and max requires iPhone
(edited)
It's not on the list online, oldest phone accepted is IPhone 4
Home, services, ways to pay, trade in (edited)
I’m not sure if they will transfer the Green and SE iPhones over to the Currys Mobile website once its released on 18th March. All I know its possible now if you pre-order. The up to 23rd March is the £100 trade-in.
The one gift card use terms is the trade-in giftcard which is unique and linked to the SKU of the phone so they only allow you to use one of those per transaction. It doesn’t affect giftcards bought elsewhere.
There seems to be more availability if they order instore for you
Then in my opinion its a huge upgrade to go from an iphone 8 to a 13
you can still do the trade in deal with carphone warehouse, But i dont think you can use a gift card or interest free - Sell my Mobile Phone for Cash | Trade-in | Carphone Warehouse
Pickup in a week or so.
Note I also used a gift card from my works app, which gave me 7% off too. Paid the odd change on credit card to get some protection on the transaction.
Great advice Pikachu and got it to work today exactly as you mentioned.
Cost was £729 for the iPhone 13.
Paid using £103 Trade-In Voucher for an old 32GB iPhone 5S which I took the voucher away from the Store, £625 using Currys TopGiftCard vouchers and £1 on Credit Card.
TopCashBack of £32.50 on the £625 TopGiftCards and £6.08 on going through TopCashBack of 1% for a Currys Purchase (not Currys Mobiles).
Total Cost paid (after TopCashBack) was £587.42 which = BRILLIANT DEAL!!!!
Many thanks OP
You can get the trade in prices online on currys website.

Link please as it doesn’t mention mini on trade in page. I’ll keep my 20:20 vision thanks (edited)
You could take your old phone into store. Trade it in and get the gift card. Then use that gift card towards the purchase of an iPhone 13?
I noticed in the T&C it does say gift card cannot be used for certain mobiles?
Trade 6S sell Xr separate.
