These are also referred to as 'suicide jacks'.

Never ever go under a car with just one of these. I wouldn't even remove a car wheel with just a scissor jack.

    Use axle stands etc.

Bought one of these last year as needed to change my wheels and my trolley jack was too big to get under my very low car. My car is just over a tonne (dry weight is under) and only needed to lift it just enough to get the trolley jack under it. Okay lifting but when trying to lower it, the spindle cross threaded and it started to collapse. Avoid if you value your car

Way too late to be replying to this, but why not have short length of 2x10 to drive up so you can get trolly jack under.

Only cars under 1 tonne would be the aerial atom or older cars

And what would be your plan exactly, to put it in the middle and try to balance the whole weight of your car on it?

I've voted this hot as it looks to be a good price. As to my opinion of this type of jack - it's probably the same as yours.

Thanks OP. Most second hand cars would come with one of these if there is a spare wheel. For a bit more In the early £20s you can get a trolley jack which would a vast improvement. Unless space was an issue.

I T is fine if you are only lifting one wheel off the ground as the other three wheels take the weight.
Ideally you should use an axle stand to hold, once up., even if you were using a trolley jack.

Why do Goodyear debase their brand name by licensing it onto junk?
