Comes with energy saving features and a simple schedule that's easy to adjust. Can be controlled from anywhere with the Nest app.

• Turns itself down after you’ve left, so you don’t heat an empty home
• Shows the temperature when you're close to it, then disappears when you walk away
• It can help save energy
• Use your home assistant and your voice to change the temperature (requires a compatible home assistant)

The white Nest Thermostat E is designed to go unnoticed while helping to save energy. It is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and can be controlled using voice command or with a phone or tablet, meaning you can adjust the temperature from almost anywhere. The Nest Thermostat E is able to start saving straight away, as it knows when all occupants have left and will turn itself down to avoid heating an empty home. The neat frosted display shows the temperature when you get close enough, and disappears again after you have walked away. When you set an energy saving temperature, you'll see the Nest leaf. The Nest Thermostst E is easy to install in a short time as you don’t need to access your heating system. The Heat Link E goes in the same place as an existing wired thermostat, so you can place the Nest Thermostat E anywhere, on a table or desk in a room that is most convenient for you.

We've calculated total savings numbers by estimating how much energy all our customers would have used if they hadn't bought a Nest Thermostat and just left their old thermostats at a constant temperature. Energy savings are not guaranteed and depend on energy usage, weather and other factors. Learn more at: nest.com/eu/…ngs.

EDIT: Does not work to replace all existing thermostats as advertised.  If you have a proprietary system this will not work.

Hi, I think my question is answered in your helpful comment above but just to be sure am I right in thinking:

I live in an old house with thick walls and getting anything wireless to work between rooms is nearly impossible. However, for this to work, does the controller part just need to speak to the heat link part and not to anything near the boiler which in my case is four rooms away.

Damn, paid £120 a couple of weeks ago...
    Easy to install.
Same functionality as the v3, but this one is also mobile

That’s a shame but still a decent price you got. Maybe you can contact them for the difference back? The reasons you state is why I have gone with this. The easy installation and not needing a pro installer to do it, and being mobile makes it better than the 3rd gen imo.

Any good deals on the 3rd gen learning one?

Been using one of these for the past year and it’s pretty good. Range is good, reached through 3 solid walls. The mobile app is quite limited, can set schedules and temperature but can’t do anything else. Would’ve been nice to have a set for 1 hour option like most dumb thermostats.

How come does it save energy prices? 😄 I e when you are outside and coming back home you can switch on heating one hour before arriving, so its waste of gas, before you use to sit with jackets on, plus out of warranty wear and tear costs etc

The thermometers are more accurate than a traditional bimetallic honeywell, but essentially it transfers the painful timer interface of a boiler, into a visual phone app, and also optimises your heating schedule over time, but any saving will be linked to how thrifty you are currently. Having a daily schedule with 30 minute periods of heating dotted through the day when needed is quite effecient (and you don't have to have the on/off when you leave if you don't want too)...

Even after 2 hours on the phone with Google I couldn't get the link to pair with the thermostat. All through the call it felt like I wasn't the first with this ordeal.

Is your heat link wired properly? Doesn't seem like a Google issue but a wiring issue on your part (edited)

Look at Honeywell EcoHome. It's more expensive c£400 but you can create individual zones and have set temperatures for each. This means you heat the parts of your home you are in, and not the whole thing at once. This really will save A LOT of money over time.

Ps - I've previously owned this. I now have the Honeywell, which is the market leading product.

Had my Gen 3 for years now. Always recorded a temp of +2 Deg. Really annoying as you have to go and reset it. It reads the lower temperature that the house is actually at and then the heating kicks in. Frustrating.

That is annoying. Not sure if it is the same but on this one the heat link tests the temp as well as the thermostat itself and the thermostat can be positioned anywhere there is a plug. Not sure how they communicate though i suppose it would at least suit the temp to where you place it.

Does anyone know if this the latest model? Does it require a subscription? Thanks.

No subscription required, it is the latest model however all of the models are dated now yet still received the best thermostat awards each year. I suppose if it aint broke don’t fix it. Anyone guess if a newer model is coming because it has been years.

This one supports “Matter” right? I have the v3 learning and it doesn’t look like mine does.

I can’t find a definitive answer. Some articles state the ‘newest’ version will but they may be referring to the US regular nest which doesn’t learn. This is indeed the newest UK model but still has the same learning features as the more expensive one. No clue.
