In my view this is the best price I have seen for a 2 person good quality kayak which will last if looked after. Sold and dispatched by Amazon. We have had 2 x K1 kayaks for 4+ years and they are still going strong with no punctures. Wanted to get a 2 person one for forthcoming van trip to Switzerland where luggage space is at a premium.

These went over 200 quid during lockdown . Pretty good fun for this price. Make good sunbeds and paddling pools also. 3 in 1. Need at least 3ft of water to work in as the fin sticks out and the bottom sinks with weight. The dog can run all over it without popping, so pretty robust.

The pump it comes with is fine. No need to buy extra electric pumps. Pumps up in 5 mins. I doubt you'll need lifejackets either. We bought them and never needed them.

I've owned a couple of these over the years. I love them. Don't expect them to live forever though, even with careful handling.

Factor in the cost of PFDs or life jackets if required, for each person, ones you can comfortably paddle wearing. Particularly if intending to use on the sea.
If in doubt check out what the RNLI have to say about these.
They are not toys and the water is to be respected, do your research and reading never be complacent. There's a reason why there are so many call outs to inflatables each year and its usually down to user error or non thought (edited)

I purchased the yellow explorer K2 also by Intex from Amazon a few years ago at about £70 (pre-covid). Got quite a few uses out of it before its first puncture which we've managed to seal. With inflation etc. I'd say this is a great price. Like another user said, don't expect it to last forever. My only very small gripe is the paddles could be just a little longer given how high you ride on the water.

Costco quite often sell the more robust plastic kayaks in summer, but they'll set you back about £300+ at full price and I only recall seeing a 1-person version which is sit 'on' rather than 'in'. Think they came down to about £180 on sale in the summer last year. The rental for a proper kayak will often set you back £40+/hour, so I'd say this is great value. I've certainly had more than £80 value out of it.

So what is the main difference between this and yellow K2 explorer?

Great fun get 2 go out on the sea (not too far) with a mate when it's slightly Wavey and it's a real laugh. Be careful and make sure you can swim obviously and keep safe... putting these things away is a nightmare who decided where the plugs go absolutely nuts!

I have the Explorer version of this (2 man), and the Challenger single man version. The Explorer one is more open around the top and I would say is a little slower, the Challenger is more fun. The Explorer one has a plug inside for draining the water, which is really useful for getting the water out when it's cleaned after use (or any water that got in during use). The Challenger one doesn't have that, so I find it really difficult to get the water out, and if you don't then of course it can get disgusting inside. I've not found a good way to clean it yet. If you packed it away with the water inside I can imagine it would be even worse.
