I know nothing about soundbars. I am looking for something that will improve my sound from the TV. I'm not a top end tech guy. My TV is 43 inches cost around £300 and does me grand. sound isn't great and I've no interest in throwing hundreds at it, now or ever.

Am I wrong in assuming this will at the very least improve an average TV's built in sound. Have read that soundbars sometimes messes with voices/talk on TV. Given this is the most important sound I am not keen in messing with that. Am I likely to be disapointed with this?

I got the older version of this soundbar (uk.jbl.com/JBL…tml) in 2019 from a Black Friday deal and it's a major major improvement over the built in sound from my relatively old 40 inch Sony Bravia that I got in 2011.

While soundbars do sometimes mess with the voices, it's mainly solved by tweaking a setting or two. I've forgotten which ones since I set it up so long ago now!

Apart from improving the sound from your TV, it'll also give you the option of making your TV your media centre if you have one of those streaming sticks - just play your spotify playlist or whatever your choice of platform is and enjoy the much higher quality music. Alternatively, just connect your phone to it via bluetooth and play music that way. (edited)

Will soundbars like this work over Bluetooth if I don’t want to place it and wire it next to the tv?

Or will there be a lag on the audio?

Most likely will be a lag over Bluetooth but TVs are equipped with lip sync delay setting and then it works flawless

This is an excellent bit of kit for the money. The iprovement from the TV speakers is seismic.

I can vouch for this Sound bar, I own one and it is definitely an improvement on my TVs internal speakers, while it’s not a proper cinematic scale it definitely made a difference

Does anyone know if you can add a sub woofer separately? Seems a lot cheaper than the 2.1 version
