My favourite Islay whisky so far, decent price in the current climate too, just picked one up in store.

info added by @sigorney

Islay Single Malt Quarter Cask Scotch WhiskyLaphroaig Islay Single Malt Quarter Cask Scotch Whisky uses small quarter casks from a bygone era to create the perfect marriage of peat and oak. Laphroaig today breathes new life into the tradition. Still-maturing whisky from our standard ex-bourbon barrels is transferred to quarter casks and left to rest in our warehouse just a stone's throw the Atlantic shore. This increased oak contact creates a soft and velvety edge to compliment Laphroaig's distinctive peatiness. The finish is long and alternates between this sweetness and smoke.

I think peated is similar to olives or chilli... It's awful at first but then you get a taste and want more

Think I'd rather grab a handful of wet soil and suck out the moisture than drink this stuff, similar experience! Each to their own I guess

To be fair, up until about 6 weeks ago, I felt the same, then I tried a couple of different peated varieties on a trip to Dornoch and Tain, and I fell in love, definitely an acquired taste though. 🥃

In my opinion, this is not the best whisky I have ever tasted but it is certainly the best bang for your buck whisky available.

    Absolutely love it.
