Great deal on this laptop with fantastic spec. The RTX 3080 is the main selling point which outperforms the RTX 3070Ti (just) and the 16GB of memory should make the graphics card more future proof. The build quality of the 7 compared to the 5 and 5 Pro is quite a bit better too - yes they probably have a new 7 coming soon but this one is lovely and available now rather than in the future for an extra grand! Use the FLASHSALE voucher for this price but it should apply that automatically for you.

sorted byThe laptop itself is fine and no problem on a lap but the power adapter is really big (it is 300W rated) which makes lugging it around a bit of a problem!
Thanks still undecided, I'll probably debate it until I decide I want it and it's not available anymore. Also I think you should get better battery life than that, I saw something about the lighting software causing battery drain
Edit: yea see here - with that software disabled and screen at 60hz looks liek you should get nearly 10 hours of light use (go to 8 minutes into the video)
Hiya Mate, i dont use iCUE, but from what ive read, its not the actual app that uses battery but the corsair services, which can be disabled & keep the app running, or you can can run a script to disable the services when unplugged. The new 2022 models will have propriety RGB software, and there is a petition for it to be made available on the 2021 models.
I upgraded to his ram: Kingston Fury KF432S20IB1K2/32, its supposed to be the best and is duel rank, my workflow needs 32GB,i have not tested it on games.
My bad mate, when i bought mine a year ago it was not from the student store, im guessing with wont work on the student store? Signing up to the newsletter gets the 10% code :-)

Intel going agro
from just specs yes this will be better for games and battery life while the intel will be better in cpu heavy tasks but this is also the legion 7 with better build quality
This is about £80 more than 3070ti right now
The Ti has a worse GPU but way better CPU.
Some useful info there thanks, but curious how the 10% newsletter sign up works, do you get a code to use or is it an auto deduction, I signed for newsletter last week, received newsletters, but no code to input.
update:- just received email from lenovo to say shipped, got a bit excited, turns out they shipped the warranty only.. (edited)
I'd also like to know if it's possible to double up the vouchers, I thought you couldn't but if anyone can get it working hopefully support could refund the difference. It's a steal at this price as it is so if not possible I'm still happy
I tried other vouchers I found via Google and it rejected them all, so I would be surprised if it would accept the 10% newsletter one, as it seems a good price already, but nothing ventured nothing gained.
does the laptop charge over usb c and how is performance affected? I know the razer laptops run really badly on battery/usb c charging but the asus zepherus laptop actually run quite well on usb c power. I wont do it all the time but if I travel I'd like to take a small charger but still be able to game even if I have to turn down setting/limit fps
I ordered one from the education store last night at £1000.
Today they seem to have put the price up to £1,120.01 but still a pretty good deal.

already announced - sounds even better but probably double the price at least for the forseeable future!!!
I bought the Currys deal for a Legion 5 Pro with 3070 yesterday for £1316 after corporate perks discount.
Another £284 for a 3080... mmm...
I'm surprised someone who bought a g14 would be in the market for a legion 7. Portability and battery life are much better on the g14. Performance is much better on the legion 7
I absolutely loved the RTX 2060 Legion 5i I had. I travel alot so the Legion went and now I've managed to bag myself an all AMD G14 for £1500.
If I was to sacrifice the portability for one machine, it would only be the Legion 7.
Battery life? if this gets 10 hours how much does the g14 get?! but actually I was in the exact same situation and I've just decided to go for this, thanks op. I feel with a usbc charger this wont be too bad for portability and the performance is miles ahead. nice big screen is also a plus. no denying it is a bigger and heavier device though
The new 7 (not 7i) starts from $2049 but that will probably be similar in pounds maybe £1999. Bottom model will have a bad graphics card though and interestingly only the 7i will have NVIDIA graphics cards. That (the 7i) starts at $2449 so probably £2299 and again will probably have the bottom of the range graphics card (maybe a 3060 assuming they skip the 3050). The new 7i 3080Ti model will probably be £2999 or something silly!
oh yea I meant through the discount store and maybe using an additional code, this model was £2.3k a year ago doing the same so I'd imagine something similar. I would also imagine there would be an additional wait and if other reviews are much to go by the ti gpus don't perform much better, it will likely only be a noticable cpu improvement and as intel is the only option a battery downgrade, so for some (me included) likely a worse machine
Much better (faster) RAM and gen 4 SSD on the 5i isn't it?
I've had both and benchmarked them on the Legion 5i Pro thread.
For framerates - I'd go for this L7 3080 as long as the games are not CPU bound it'll be faster in games than the 3070Ti.
IMHO SSDs are so fast, then a bit extra isnt noticeable whereas FPS tends to be.
Can't go wrong with it but 3080 is still stronger than the 3070Ti.
I've gone for the 5i pro - I'll use it for video editing way more than gaming but hopefully I won't notice a difference from my series X (which I'm selling to fund it!)
When did it increase in price? I was going to buy that as well…
