You must be confused, the post states two 500g tubs of Lurpak Spreadable for £7 not one, also there are one or two differences between, Lurpak Spreadable and Margarine, see below it may be of some help on your next shopping trip.

    Lurpak Spreadable
Butter (64%) (Milk), · Rapeseed Oil, · Water, · Lactic Culture (Milk), · Salt ..

    Typical Margarine
Vegetable oils in varying proportions (70%) (rapeseed, palm, sunflower), water, salt (1,4%), preservative (potassium sorbate), acid (citric acid) emulsifier (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acid), flavourings, vitamins (A and D).

Morrisons' own brand spreadable is way cheaper and just as nice

Good price for Lurpak these days BUT I have switched to Nordpak at £2.19 and it's just as good as Lurpak so zero point going back and spending more now.

Lidl Danpak at £2.19. Aldi Nordpak if I'm there.
Tastes same to me and much cheaper.
Lurpak is now a Christmas present

Country life is 2.50 still in home bargains for 500 gram,my partner loves lurpak but I prefer country life, lurpak has a distinct taste to it it feels less buttery and more oily.

£1 is my limit for a tub, not much available except buttery spread and asda soft spread stuff which is okayish - I will use Mayo at 50p a tube if those get more expensive or give up bread if that gets too expensive.

genuine question: what does justify the higher price of this butter?

Real butter is so much nicer than this, better for you and more or less the same price. I don’t understand why people buy this.

I love real butter, but it's much too heavy and rich for me. Spreadable is lighter so suits me fine

I've found. If you stop buying bread. You don't need butter.

A bit of butter is helpful for cooking/baking. You'll use way less though without bread, that's for sure (edited)

I still can't afford this. It's a luxurious eatery to me and my family in the past 6 months or so. Heat for price coming down a little.

you missed Aldi where it is under £6. Just saw it in there. Right next to the £3 tub of spread which has a slight but minimal taste difference.

Is this the one you mean. Lurpak Slightly Salted Spreadable 600g £5.35 £8.92 per kg, if so it's almost £2 a kilo more expensive. (edited)

Getting tonight some more Asda spread, 83p OK, best price for marge, reviews hit and miss.

Used to love marg' on toast as a kid - thanks @morrig for the Asda tip - I'll get one for nostalgia just to see if it tastes as good now

Looking at the marg' ingredients, glad they've now removed the deadly transfats (hydrogenated fats: clog arteries, added to products to pad-out/solidify them + lengthen shelf/fridge life)

Wow! Had no idea this stuff was so expensive. I pay around £1.50 a tub for whatever I spread on my bread.
