I got this a few months ago and the first auto renewal failed despite having sufficient balance (5p ). This is a good deal as long as everything goes well. But the moment you have any issue, don't count on their CS

Agreed and had a similar experience

Please stay away from this company even if they pay you money to use.

I've been overcharged and still waiting for a refund, no response from CS

I regularly do sim swaps (Lebara, talkmobile, IDmobile, Virgin etc), especially with the current market having competitve rates, but lyca was disappointing.
Porting number across took ages to sort ... they are far from where i would confidently to recommend to friends, family and others.

Have Lebara at present, and want to port-out-port-in. What's the best temporary provider to port to?

    Thanks.

I've still got 3 months left of my 1p Lebrara deal left, just ordered one of these to use when my existing deal finishes. Do I need to activate this now or can I leave it 3 months and then activate, or will Lyca just keep billing me now even though it's not activated and in use?

    Hope that makes sense

Don’t activate until ready to port number

I'm with the Lebara 1p for 6 month deal. Unlimited and 12gb.
4 months in and not a single issue. The app is great also.
    I'm glad I didn't pick Lyca now

Same here except the 2 day outage, but my local mast went pop, taking out O2, Vodafone and 4g+ on Three, so not thier fault.

The worst company I’ve had the displeasure to use. Still waiting for a refund. I can’t believe these offers are allowed on here still

Lycamobile is a scam. They promised me many times a refund that never came. So I contacted my bank to cancel the payment.

I ordered a sim on the 3Gb data@ 39p for 6 months a couple of weeks ago. They took the 39p, and the sim arrived a couple of days later. I made the mistake of porting in my number, before checking that my 3Gb package had been activated. Now they tell me I need an activation code, which would have been sent by email. But they never sent that email.
In have chatted, phoned and emailed. They always tell me to look in Spam etc., but I have told them perhaps seven times that I have done all that and no email was ever sent. Their CS are very poor at communication, and don't seem to be able to go off script. Eventually I got it escalated, but they want screenshots of bank statements, the MFST number from the email which I never received, and the code from the PIN plastic surround which I threw away days ago.
It's not the 39p, it's the fact that I have been without this mobile for 10days. I have given up and will try to port out as soon as my Smarty sim arrives. I hope porting out has the effect of cancelling this non existent package and they don't try to charge again next month.
So I agree with those who advise avoiding Lyca, no matter how cheap the deal.

Why for the love of the mythical wee man do they use Evri? My SIM has been sitting with them on "processing" for 5 days now.

I got their penny deal back in September, apart from spam phone calls on the regular I've no issues.
    Dyslexic_Dog's avatar
I'm (was) on the same deal until they text me yesterday to say that they'd been unable to take the 1p payment from my bank account.
I'm still waiting to see what happens, I don't really believe that my bank would honour all my regular direct debits and standing orders totaling thousands of pounds and then decline a 1p payment.

Got both the Lyca and Lebara ones for cctv cameras a few weeks ago.

Did anyone get any emails/docs which show the promo price and length? I signed up via the HUKD links.

Every e-Mail i received from both Lyca and Lebara show the standard price.it’s the same shown on the apps too. However i’ve have been charged the promo price of 0.49p (price at that time). (edited)

Got the 3gb plan for 5p a few days ago. Set it up today and initially the speeds were shocking. Would take an age to find a server when trying to run a speed test. Eventually, I was getting about 150-200mbps on 5G and 60mbps on 4G. BUT I was getting 20mbps on 4G first. So I assume it will be hit and miss. When I first tried it nothing was loading despite the 5G connection. So I'd avoid. Vodafone in comparison is miles better. Speedy and reliable and in real world usage you will notice the consistency. As my contract ends in a few days I've switched to Three!

Wow where do you live? and u think that is bad lol. I am lucky to get 1MB download on 4g unless I walk outside haha. The best I got was with EE and even that best was 8MB!

I'd be well happy with 20MB lol

I would like to try Lyca, but no 5g for iPhone yet, Lebara for me is no good, only get 3G/4G where I use, I’m on ID at the moment and get speeds upto 820mb/s. But I’m looking to change when the prices go up 15% in the new year, I wish Smarty would do a deal

Free roaming in The Canaries and Madeira??? Both are in the EU (Spain and Portugal) but their islands are not named on the Lyca list. (They are named on Lebara list)
Anyone been to these EU islands with a Lyca sim and know for sure? Thanks (edited)

Does anyone know of I can I have more than one sim per account?
  28. Lukasz_Jurys's avatar
i have 3 sim cards registered with 3 different email addresses.

as with Lebara, can you order then wait a couple of months before activating?

All the above comments aren't very encouraging though I was hoping I'd PAC over to Lyca for 6 months (from Lebara), then back to Lebara but now thinking twice and just use 1p mobile for the PAC and back to Lebara when the credit runs out. (edited)

do not need to use at the moment, if I buy how long can I wait before activating?, I know with the lybra sim it is 3 months is this the same?
  31. MgBossHogg's avatar
Received my SIM today. 6 days after ordering.
Easy enough to setup, although a bit backwards typing in an MMI code to activate your specific deal.
Checked on website and my 4Gb allowance is there. Doesn't mention price anywhere though .
Also, can't login to the app as it doesn't recognise my Lyca number. Although the website does.

All in all perfectly acceptable as a 5p secondary SIM.

Can You tell me if I am already on Vodafone pay monthly contract and buy another contract through 3 rd party retailer (E2save, mobiles.co.uk etc ) will i be able to move my old vodafone number to new vodafone sim contract ??? Thank YOu.
    islander's avatar
Nothing to do with Lyca then. Make sure you are out of contract then port your number somewhere else like Lebara, Lyca or Three and port back in once you get your new contract.

But if you want to save money and stay on the Vodafone network give a try to Lebara they use the same network and are much cheaper. (edited)
