    Nice idea but run time seems to vary between 2-5 hours.

    Not quite long enough if you want it to be truly portable all day.

    Also, many commenting on the battery failing within a year or so.

    Doesn’t “clip” in either, so could fall out if knocked it seems…

    Nice idea, almost bought, but needs refinement, hence why I think it’s been so heavily discounted.

    I'm pretty sure you will find it is heavily discounted because the 4th generation Echo Dot is no longer made. The battery base gets 4.4 on almost 12,000 ratings, which I think is pretty good when you take out the ratings from idiots (e.g. this did not fit my Echo! or the connector is not long enough!). Great buy for less than £6.

    Is this 4th Gen only, or will it work on the 5th Gen ones. (The page says 4th gen, and won't work on older ones, but doesn't mention the newer one)?

    The small Gen 5 dots I have just purchased on the 2 4 1 deal fit without any issue, just ordered another one .

    Thanks OP. Well worth it at this price (had a spare Gen 4 laying around after upgraded to a 5 on recent deal)

    Whilst it’s gonna be useful for music via Spotify, for me the real benefit will be things like announcements I’ve got from Home Assistant like garage doors opening and visitors on the driveway and front door.

    got mine today, works really well 100 ft at the bottom of my garden (got an outdoor AP)....really impressed and now we can hear Eufy doorbell at the bottom of th garden and controls lots of Home Automation stuff....absolute bargain in my opinion, but as others have said, such a shame it doesn't have an on/off button

    Not bad. For music but as I’ve got decent outdoor speakers it will push audio through those instead.

    interestingly, after charging this the day I got it for about 30 minutes and testing, and then unplugging the Echo (4th gen), the little blue light is still on the base and plugging it back into today, it's still holding power...so that is promising (edited)

    I tested the Mission Base Stations with the new 5th Gen Echo Dot and the port input adapter on the back will not insert into the 5th Gen Echo Dot Unless you Dremel the slight lip recess on the rear.

    I tested the 5th Gen Echo Dot on Both the white and black mission station bases and both of mine had a rear lip on the cutout, it seems to be ok on the 4th Gen, but on the 5th Gen, you may need to adapt/modify the rear lip on the cutout if you wish to use the battery bases with the new model!

    Note: If you check the comments above you will see one person said their base worked fine, but I purchased 2 bases (1 white and 1 Black, both from Amazon, neither would work on my 5th Gen)

    Mine came today, why the hell dosnt it have an off button is beyond me. It literally drains itself down before you wanna use it. Only thing I can think of is keep it plugged in 24-7 but people are saying that damages the battery life. Worth 6 quid I suppose

    Received this today, very pleased with it. It's more light grey than white but you only see cloth speaker cover so colour doesn't really matter. The dot looks a lot better sitting in it than on a surface....great value at £5.99.
