Info added by

The MeacoDry Arete® One-18L Dehumidifier & Air Purifier is whisper quiet. At only 40 dB it's more than twice as quiet as the industry standard.

The performance and design of this dehumidifier has been created around the British climate and the British user. Arete dehumidifies most efficiently between 10°C and 20°C, to extract the maximum amount of water from the air, when you need it most. Standard dehumidifiers are created to work most efficiently at 27°C, way above the average temperature of a British household.

Removes Condensation – Efficiently prevents condensation and mould by capturing moisture in a 4.8 litre water tank.

Arete extracts water into an extra-large tank ensuring you wake up to clear windows each morning. The easy to use tank has a cover and carry handle with the option to pour the water away from both the left and right side, making life easy.

Purer Than Ever – Our H13 HEPA filter removes 99.95% of particles from the air for year-round air purification.
Perfect for customers with asthma or allergies, the medical grade H13 HEPA filter helps to clean the air in your home, removing smells and VOCs from the air. Arete can be used purely as an air purifier in the summer months when dehumidification is not required.

There are no complicated controls. Arete has been designed so it is easy to use for everyone. One press of a smart humidity button is all you need to set up your dehumidifier and walk away. Arete will do the rest for you: Arete will increase the fan speed if the humidity level rises and change to a quieter mode when the target humidity has almost been reached. There is also a Child Lock to stop big or small fingers from changing the settings!

Arete does not only dry your laundry; it dries your laundry quickly and efficiently whilst monitoring its energy consumption and turns the compressor off when the relative humidity reaches 35%rh to save power. The powerful fan will stay on to make sure your clothes are dry.

The MeacoDry Arete® One-18L Dehumidifier and Air Purifier is suitable for use throughout a 4/5 bedroom house. However, this should not be used in enclosed spaces or rooms that are smaller than 4m².

We have recently moved to the UK (Hampshire). Are these essential here during the winter especially? We're living in a small 2 bedroom flat on the 1st floor.

I had to use one in my last house in winter for damp problems in the house. We also used it to keep the costs down whilst drying clothes in the house.
Lower humidity will also mean your heating will be more effective.

What is the 18 litres if the tank capacity is 4.8 litres?

18 litres is the processing capacity, 4.8L is how much water the tank can hold

Do these help with sleep at all? Having less humid air and purified?

In all honesty, I think you can only notice a difference with sleep/mornings if you have either an extremely humid bedroom (constantly over 70%+ humidity) or you use the air purifier in the spring/summer to help with allergies. I have a Phillips air purifier that I mainly get out in May/June when my allergies are bad, but I also have the window open at night so it helps contend with that.

I will recommend to purchase the air conditioner rather than this one, because the AC can also work as a dehumidifier and hot fan at the similar price.

Thats a good idea but it depends on your property type and where you would want to locate it, for me in our property the aircon would be too big to place in the hallway we have the 12l version and sits nicely in the hallway
