You've used this service before from what I recall, takes absolutely ages for them to assess the handset, but does work in the end. Well that was my experience anyway
You?
This is applicable to any OnePlus phone since the 10 series, and is carried from OPPO. The difference is that OPPO makes it difficult to unlock the bootloader in the first place, with these new OnePlus phones there's nothing stopping you from going in, but there's no way out if you brick your device. The only ones who can unbrick the phone are technicians with access to the SERVER AUTHENITCATED software, so if you're out of warranty, you're out of luck. And I doubt there's going to be any workaround for a very long time.
I'm not saying other brands don't do these practices (🍎💀), but I feel that it's worth mentioning, OnePlus isn't the OnePlus it used to be, their phones are no longer flagship killers, they're just OPPOs with a different logo on them.
A bit of a summary/TLDR; Any OnePlus phones released since 2022, and any OPPO phones released since 2016 are sold to you with planned obsolescence in mind (under the guise of ""security"'", as are most developments in repairability these days), if you're interested in flashing ROMs on your phone at some point etc, steer clear of this phone. It's interesting that folk complain about OnePlus these days yet you see many positive noises about oppo devices.
I agree with your sentiments though - they are not the brand they used to be.
The OnePlus 8t with oxygen OS/android 11 was such a mighty device, possibly my favourite phone of all time. (edited)
Not sure what to do! (confused)
Great phone
Before getting OnePlus I would like to know.
This is a new one please explain what you mean.
