start with an 8kg. I have 4 competition kettlebells, and they are always categorised by colour. 8, 12, 16 and 20kg

8kg is a good start for various exercises as you learn "muscle memory" and finesse the techniques needed. racking, snatching, punching etc, 8kg is perfect

if you're buying these.... go for the 6kg and the 10kg for progression. 2kg, would be useful to learn a turkish getup (it's bloody hard) (edited)

    History lesson:

    700BC – 5th CENTURY GREECE

The use of the Greek Haltere (a pre curser to Kettlebells and Dumbells) from research. Suggests that they were used as an implement to propel the athletes forward to achieve greater distances

It is quite possible they were used in the first Olympic Games in 776BC. Halteres weighed anywhere between 2 – 9kg.

There is also the only existence of some form of kettlebell in the The Archaelogical Museum of Olympia in Athens Greece and weighs 143.5kg (315lb)

Bought the 8 and 10kg 2 weeks ago at full price.

Decent quality and my scale says they are accurate weight.
