Making way for new slim model

Why do people keep talking about slim/pro as if it's fact? Nothing at all has been announced.

Bought C Grade version last month and thought it might be useful to re-share my experience from the previous thread:

"I know this deal has sold out now, but I thought I'd come back and share my thoughts on the unit I got.

Long story short I am happy with the PS5 I received. Yes, it has some scratches on the face plates and also the centre piece of the console itself but they are minor and I wouldn't have spotted most of them, if I wasn't looking carefully.

The fan is a little dusty, which leads me to believe it hasn't been cleaned by curries and makes me doubt how 'refurbished' this is. But other than that the unit is clean, in good condition and I'm very pleased with it.

Based on this experience, I would recommend if the deal becomes available again".

Im currently on xbox one and wanting to go back to playstation… should i buy a ps5 console now or is there going to be anything new coming out that i should wait for?

You should look at what consoles your friends play and how many digital games you have purchased in the past. If you've bought a lot of Xbox games it might be worth buying a Series X to continue enjoying them.

You can also compare what games are on Gamepass and Playstation Plus to see if that helps you decide.

Both consoles are very good so you can't go wrong whatever you pick. (edited)

Can't help but think this isn't a good deal. Second hand console and no game. A week ago for £34 more could get new. If waited this long just wait till black friday.

Why should I upgrade from my ps4?

Games you can't play anywhere else like Demon's Souls remake and Final Fantasy XVI, with Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Wolverine on the way.

Games you can't play on any other console like The Last of Us Part 1, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and Returnal, with Baldur's Gate 3 on the way.

Games you can't play on PS4 like A Plague Tale Requiem, Dead Space remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Games that were released cross-gen but look and play much better on PS5 like God of War: Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West and Spider-Man: Miles Morales plus plenty more multiplats.

Games from last-gen that look and play much better on PS5 due to patches, like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and The Last of Us Part II.

The console itself runs silent compared to the PS4, load times are lightning quick, and the DualSense controller is a great upgrade with haptics, and force feedback on the triggers. But don't just take my word for it, PS5 has already sold more than 40m worldwide (edited)

£340, they are now getting desperate to get this old stock off their hands before the new revised version is here. Lol

    It's 2nd hand!

The new console has actually gone up in price

Can these play previous PS console games? I want to get back in to Tomb Raider, so PS1 games etc
    nickroll's avatar
    Backwards compat with PS4 only.

PS1, 2 and 3 discs aren't gonna work. Many older games are available either via PS Plus or to purchase digitally though. (edited)

Makes me laugh some of scalpers stuck with ps5 consoles on eBay for ages and still asking £550.
  9. nufc1979's avatar
This is a lot of money for a second hand console. Basically it’s had a wipe, powered on and boxed again. I’d be very wary of anything like this.

Be really wary of disc drive issues. Mine had one unfortunately
    Currys accepted the return
    Moss.b's avatar
How long after your purchase did you get the issue? And they had this problem also on ps3.

Mint disc based PS5s dropping to £400 on the 25th August for a ltd time. (edited)
    nickroll's avatar
Source? They only just had a two week discount to celebrate 40m sales. (edited)
  12. Openttdbeer's avatar
Would be 'disc' in this case wouldn't it? Doesn't 'disk' refer to things like Hard Drives or SSDs?
  13. stuartc's avatar
I am really tempted by this and almost pulled the trigger on it last night but I think I am going to hold and see if anything is announced in the next few weeks and I am also a bit nervous of buying a second hand PS5 due to the mentioned disc issues. I have been toying between a PS5 and an Xbox Series X but I think I will probably go the PS5 route as I have a really good PC for Games Pass and my PS4 Pro is starting to show it's age and it would be good to sell it now while I can get a fairly good amount for it.
    Hugh_Mungo's avatar
Why not just stick with PC? Sony is planning to bring most exclusives to PC. Best time to be a PC gamer imho
  14. theshabster's avatar
Not a particularly great deal given the recent price drop on consoles and bundles, but I suppose that as prices have now gone back up it's still a decent enough reduction going by today's new selling prices.
    nonnygb's avatar
True but that price drop was temporary and has now expired.

Can someone enlighten me as to why this deal is so hot considering you could have bought a brand new one for just a few quid more last month?
    Diabolik88's avatar
Unless you've access to the Tardis you ain't getting that deal from a couple of weeks ago so this is currently the best price you'll get a PS5 optical for (edited)
  16. hcc27's avatar
My, how times have changed. This deal was posted a day ago and as of now, there are 8 units remaining with 21 sold. Back in the times of the great PS5 shortage, a "deal" at 25% over RRP would have been scalped by bots in about 10 seconds!

Not sure I trust the "GRADE B" condition description?

    Very tempted but.....
