sorted byAnyway .. while watching via the Apps on the soundbar and using the specific "audio/voice" improving setting on the Roku it's better/clearer. However, if you watch an App via your TV, and just use the soundbar for "audio only" then there doesn't seem to be a way to enable that same setting. What this means is that essentially you're kinda forced to use the App on the Roku and not the TV (or indeed any App), which is a shame. And then for anything that isn't an "App" (i.e. a channel on our Virgin box) you don't get the dialogue enhancement option.
That wasn't clear to me when I made the purchase, and so I'm a little disappointed. Is it better than TV speakers? Yes. Is it as good as I thought it would be? No. Solid 3/5 for me, but nothing more.
(I have never used any other soundbar, so I unfortunately cannot compare with anything else).
In effect, this allows you to enable/disable audio processing on audio which is being received via ARC from another source - no need to use the apps directly on the Roku device itself. I'm guessing it's the same if the audio is coming in via the optical connection - but since I don't use this in my setup I can't be sure.

I've not tried it myself but it's documented in the instructions and mentioned on the Roku community forum:

They could not be happier. The sound is very clear. Does a good job with music/ambient sounds too. (edited)
Another annoying feature for us is there is no way to shut off the sound completely - we have to unplug it. So even with the ARC CECe hdmi port you can switch between internal and external speakers (we use an LG Oled), next time we turn the TV on we get the booming soundbar even though we have previously reverted back to internal speakers. Not sure if ours is defective or a design flaw.
I think the solution is to turn off the HDMI CEC (I think it's called Simplink on LG) which will then require you to switch to and from the soundbar manually, although that may prove more irrirating.
I just use the Firestick, Apple TV (the box) or the Samsung Apple TV app to watch with the sound coming out through the Streambar.
Just be aware if you're planning on buying for watching your Apple content.
Thanks
The thing that annoys me the most is there isn't enough bass in them. You can buy a sub for this. But only if you are in the US. Roku seem to dislike every other market when it comes to releasing their products.
Other than that. It's a massive improvement over built in TV speakers. And it's now cheap enough to have more then one.
You also get 3 months Apple TV+ with these.
Got one last time for my daughter's flat. Very impressed with the interface, apps, and especially the sound quality 👌
