The Tab 3 series is actually amongst the best selling tablets on the market and widely outsells the admittedly superior Nexus 7. Because it's not a particularly high specced tablet there's a lot of room for discounting.
I would strongly challenge your assertion that there are better tablets available at this price range - that's simply not true. You might be able to list some cheap Chinese tablet with better specs on paper but I'd guarantee you real world performance and build quality wouldn't touch this Samsung tablet.
I own a variety of tablets from my old Xoom to the 2012 Nexus 7 and 10 and I've bought one of these to use on my travels as its great for storing movies and music via the micro sd slot.
No this tablet isn't as fast as either of my Nexus devices but its about on par with my 2011Xoom which was the most powerful tablet around on release and still does everything anyone could need it to. The truth is for 99% of people this tablet will suit all their needs and they will be very happy with it. The screen is actually very bright and colourful and far better than most cheapo tablets boasting a high definition screen but usually awful contrast and washed out colours. On this size of tablet people shouldn't get hung up on resolution specs, the screen looks just fine honestly.
Performance wise as long as you don't try to do to many demanding tasks at once the tab 3 works just fine and I've even managed to play a demanding game like Real Racing 3 with no problems at all although I prefer playing games on my consoles so don't really care about its gaming performance.
Cnet UK which gave this tablet a mediocre review on its initial release priced at £179.99 called it an absolute bargain when it was reduced to £99.99 by amazon crave.cnet.co.uk/lap…22/
At £79.99 a big name branded tablet with great build quality, that although nowhere near the fastest can do pretty much everything 99% of people will need it to is nothing short of a steal.

They use Yodel, best collecting if possible.
You do realise the the online price is that price because it's too late for Christmas delivery? i.e. it's a sale price because it's too late for Christmas. They'll want to ship as many tablets (if not all) in store at their normal price before Christmas. That's business. Not poor customer service.
He isn't being a troll, you're being incredibly ignorant, the Galaxy Tab 3 7" has been dropping its price so fast its hard to keep up. What does that smack of? A failing device that retailers are trying to get rid of. Even the person you quote as a Troll has said this price is good for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7". How is that being a troll?
As stated, the Nvidia Tegra Note is far superior to the Galaxy Tab 3, in every way.
Lets not stop at just the Tegra Note, there are plenty of tablets much better than this, at this price point. It's only the people that see the brand (Samsung in this instance) that think it must be a good Tablet.
I won't waste anymore of my time picking your ignorance apart, for those who can't be bothered spending 10 minutes on Google researching 7" Tablets they will probably be fine with this Tablet.
I give up and I'm sorry OP I've given every Galaxy Tab 3 7" heat, I just can't do it anymore, I'm not voting either way on this.
Seriously resent the troll comments, I have voted hot on this deal as in my opinion it is a good price for this particular tablet, I even went on in my original comment to state that as the tegra price has gone up it makes the tab 3 price even hotter. I simply stated that when currys/pcworld slashed the price to 99.99 (89.99 as I paid for the 2 i bought for my kids with the VEGA10 code) it was a MUCH better deal. The less informed members of the HUKD community seem to think the Advent Vega Tegra Note is a cheapo tab throwing around BS high numbers like the cheap chinese tabs, they couldn't be more wrong, the tablet is an NVIDIA tablet, powered by the incredibly powerful NVIDIA Tegra 4 Processor (successor to the 2 year old chip in the 2012 Nexus 7 that still gets voted hot when on sale).
NVIDIA dropped the ball in my opinion by letting other manufacturers stick their name on the back as it gives the wrong impression, people think they are getting a no name tablet when in fact they are getting a high quality tablet with great specs, this has worked in our favour though as consumers though as the price has been quickly slashed, if it drops to 99.99 again then it becomes a must buy for anyone in the market for a 7" Tablet.
In short at this price the Tab 3 is great however keep your eye on the Tegra Note as when it drops in price again it will then become a steal as it blows the tab 3 out of the water in any and all aspects. More features, better screen, MUCH better processor, great included stylus........
The above comment regarding spec isn't opinion by the way... it's fact. Also just like to reiterate I am in no way a troll, I have voted hot on the deal and think if you have a budget for around this amount for a 7" tablet then its a great buy, however if you will want more performance out of a tab in regards to gaming etc then just steer clear and wait a while longer for the tegra note to drop again.....

Very poor reviews at £180, at £80 its a bit different. We have some of these at work, and tab 2s and nexus 7s. These work fine, do most things you'd want easily. I personally would have a nexus 7 but my mum is in the market for a tablet and this is ideal. Well made, feels solid and just works. She's not going to game on it, just read emails etc. so I can't justify anything more expensive and can't see a tablet at this price point I'd prefer.
Tesco is exactly the same. Different stock if you order online even if your item is identical with what is in store. You still have to wait. DSG often has web price specials not matched in store.
Why are people surprised? Are they new to shopping?
Couldn't agree more.
Yodel = Broken
well the deciding factor for me was expandable memory, nexus does not have an SD slot while the tab 3 does , so i bought the tab 3.
Why don't you go buy an ipad for £79 then?
You'll be wanting one of these, then
theres a performance setting on my phone stating the percentage of time that my processor spends in a specific state, being a galaxy s2 that would be 1200mhz at its highest without overclocking ,,and the time in that state, 1 percent, i would argue that for the majority of people who are compelled to have a zillion cores and a million gb of memory and a screen resolution that the human eye cannot see , they will never need to be that current with tech and to not feel compelled to feel the need to constanly updating there tech every 24 hours.
I actually bought the Asus Memo Pad HD too and at the price it‘s a good deal but it is definitely not as good a tablet as the Tab 3 and it‘s a classic case of why you should never buy a tablet on specs alone as real world performance can be a different matter.
The build quality of the Memo Pad is nowhere near as good as the Tab 3 and the screen is far less responsive and is the worst fingerprint magnet I've ever come across. Seriously, a screen protector is essential not optional with the Memo Pad.
Performance wise I would also give the Tab 3 the nod and that's in spite of the Memo Pad having a quad core chip.
Comparison video here but remember there was a big price differential at the time of this comparison. The video actually shows the Tab 3 runs faster in real world performance and handles demanding games better. More proof that specs and benchmarks should be taken with a pinch of salt.

FYI thats a link for nexus.... not Samsung tab 3
As an employee of a very large computer manufacturer we have been told to expect 'tablet wars' after Christmas, so expect prices to drop even lower.
Yes.
I just called online again and she said definitely not. you cannot go into store and collect as its a different stock base etc. just to make you aware before you trapes to the shop.

Isn't that what an ipad does too just surf the net and play games
Had a try at live chat and got different information to what I had been told on the phone...now been told that any item bought from 1st November can be returned due to change of mind up until 31st of January and according to person on live chat there should be no problem returning as the Tablet hasn't been opened....also got copy of transcript just in case of any problems...
And when you do google it you find it doesn't work with Samsung's ROMs. So now what?
Hi ignore the not so techy speak..Lol... The tablet in this deal does everything that the more expensive tablets do. Some of the other deals have larger on board memory which is good if you are going to have a lot of apps or games which have to be stored on the on board memory. However, the average user 8gb is ample and this tablet has the option of upgrading memory via an sd card that means you can have more music, documents and movies stored on (but not apps which are strictly stored on the on board/internal memory).
I choose this deal as having lots of apps was not as important as storing movies, books, files via an sd card, which this can do.
The picture quality is great for me but for HD quality buffs out there and game players they will prefer the Nexus 7 2012 model for £99. For the average person the Tab 3 is ample with decent picture quality.
I managed to order two online and am the Mrs is using one right now and more than pleased.
