Great price, so heat for that, but a little story below

I bought 2 tyres online, to replace the New less than 1k miles Budget tyres on the front of my Type-R .
It took 2 weeks to get a slot at Bristol, as they said there short staffed....
Then on the day, they tell me they have to fit the new tyres on the rear of the car, despite me saying in advance i wanted to replace the front with grippy tyres via choice, not because the tyres were worn.
The guy said its Costco policy that they fit newer tyres to the rear, over-riding what the customer wants.

So in my case, moved my rear uneven tyres with less tread to the front of my Front wheel drive car, and put new grippy tyres on the rear, to which the following day i had to pay a local garage to swap them around.
    FYI

It's for safety. Understeer is deemed a safer scenario than Oversteer for drivers who aren't confident with a car at its limit.

By having the newer tyres on the rear it tips the balance towards understeer, thus protecting them legally from blame if a customer crashed.

Also it's more convenient to have the older tyres on the front because the fronts wear much much faster. That's good because old rubber starts to crack which is an MOT failure (and why tyres have a DOT code) so it's good to wear out the older rubber first, then move the barely worn backs to the front, and fit new rears.

I used to be in your camp, but fitting new tyres on the rear is the best most logical system. (edited)

You can also get 'Goodyear 225/45 R17 (W) 94 VECTOR 4 SEASON G3 XL' for an extra £2 per tyre

I have a booking for next week at Formula One Autocentres booked via Blackcircles for fitting 4 Continental Cross Contact LX Sport tyres on my Jag F-Pace.

Costco doesn't have the same tyres but they have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres which are also recommended by Jaguar.

The price difference between the Blackcircles and Costco booking is just £7 (Costco being dearer by £7), which is fine with me. But I have few questions, if someone can help please:

    1. Is Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric a better tyre than Continental Cross Contact LX Sport?
    2. Is there any benefit in getting tyres replaced at Costco compared to Formula One Autocentres?

    Thanks in advance. (edited)

I’d recommend the Goodyear’s too. I have the AS 5 tyres and they excellent

Shame couldn't find F1 asymmetric 6. Hot for other tyres savings.
    Kmc94's avatar
If you want the f1 asy 6 then jusy go in to costco and order them even if you don’t see them on the website that’s what i do

I will be replacing Michelin Cross Climate plus with VECTOR 4 SEASON G3. Michelin are very expensive lately. If you are after specific tyres, you need to go to Costco warehouse and ask for them. They will apply the discount for the special order tyres as well. Costco only list in stock tyres online.
    highdon's avatar
I'm after Vector 4Season as well but in my size they're almost the same as Cross Climates Even with the discount I'd be paying £140 a corner

For someone knowing nothing about tires which of the two offerings the site gives is a better choice?

    Goodyear 215/45 R17 (91) W EFFICIENTGRIP
    Goodyear 215/45 R17 W (91) EAGLE F1 (ASYMMETRIC 3) XL AO

Fuel economy will be better with the efficient grip version, as I drive spirited at times I'd go F1 out of them but for a Prius I'd go efficient grip, both good tyres, F1 more aimed at GTi type drivers imo

I used to have a lot of Goodyears, but since 2018 they're all miserable.
    Superman_turbo_pro_3000's avatar
How so? They're performing better than ever in tests, beating Michelin and Continental!

    All season vs summer?
    Steven_C30's avatar
All season tyres are jack of all trades master of none. Not much better than summer tyres in snow and ice and wear out much faster the rest of the year due to their softer construction.
If you need winter tyres then you're much better off swapping over for the winter season and swapping back in spring.
Summer tyres are fine for most uk winter weather so long as there's plenty of tread on them and you drive carefully.

Great price....now if only I could get that for 215/60/r17
    MonkeyMan90's avatar
You should be grateful you don't have 19"+ tyres I pay more than this for 1
  10. unasistent's avatar
From what i seen this is the best option for this price now..so hot
  11. Itsmehmood's avatar
They used to be cheaper last year (63£ a tyre) no gone up massively
  12. unasistent's avatar
    306£ for 4 asymmetric 6 with installation..in costco...not bad
  13. Duggan360's avatar
Just ordered X4 19" Asymmetric 6 for £500, £150 better than the next best price! Hopefully they get delivered as Costco messed up my Michelin order 😳

    • "Shorter braking distance"
    • "Lower rolling resistance"

Completely meaningless marketing guff without stating what it's compared to!
    highdon's avatar
Compared to previous model. Says so in the paragraph above.

A very good price. I have had 2x 16” Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance 2 on my front since January. I feel very safe and comfortable drive with them (apart from potholes). Recommend.
    dheydl's avatar
I did like them but found them prone to losing air and punctures too easily for my liking. Ended up costing me a fortune. Got a no-name replacement with the same A-E ratings and not had a problem since.
  19. JagerNinja's avatar
I bought 4 of these last week for a fair bit more
  20. Ree_25's avatar
Why is it almost impossible to find HALF decent deals on 15" tyres
  21. techmana5ad's avatar
Really could do with these but not a costco member.. will need to wait for another deal 😩
